I sent PMs to around 25 of posters I enjoyed over there with a link to this site. Unfortunately, one of them was a mod of another one of their forums. D'oh! I was immediately banned for life. For the most part, though, it's been a trickling effect of defection.
Some guys actually came over from O-Live to Fan Home. Anything was a step up from that. ABM didn't ASK me to come over..........I am crushed. Kind of like the kid brother nobody wants around.
that site is lame now that i think about it...you have to pay money to have your own avatar...how lame is that?
Dude, I'm sorry. I LOVE you, man! Actually, I think I just looked down some of the previous threads/posts as the basis for my list. I was prety upset, though....and not in my right mind at the time. On second thought, when am I EVER in my right mind?!
I actually have more posts over there. I hadn't posted there for 14 months and had to reset the password. I must have been a chatty kathie back then.
True dat. But site management IS important. Sure the hosting is just wallpaper or window dressing if you will, but if those that manage the site run it like Nazis with a bad attitude it can ruin everything. This community...the one that RStar referred to as "prima donnas" is unique. And its able to sustain and take care of itself. Denny you have done a fine job of recognizing that and facilitating that. And I am sure everyone here appreciates you for that.
"hopefully you are all enjoying your new home, but the majority of us breathed a huge sigh of relief when you guys left, and threw a small party. The Blazers forum was the prima dona's of the website, and we are better off without the distraction." This is the EXACT attitude that has made that site the useless wasteland it has become. Why the fuck do fans of other teams consider what goes on in the Blazer forum a "distraction"? Nobody forces them to go there. And if they do, and don't like it, they can always leave and go back to their own forum where we won't "distract" them. So, they all had a little party when they lost their biggest, most active fan base. Good for them. I hope it was BYOB, because that site lost a large percentage of their banner ad revenue when they drove us away. I swear that's the only internet site I've ever seen that deliberately drives away users - and then celebrates it like it's some sort of victory. BNM
I'm the opposite. In 4.75 years over there, I had 6400 posts (just looked that up). In a little over a year here, 4600. barfo
Yes, but the point is, they are more frequent shit now. I'll worry about quality some other time, I'm all about quantity now. barfo
I always thought R-Star was a total tool. I can appreciate other posters out there from different fan bases and with different views (I'm thinking DaRizzle, right now), but others just came off as arrogant jerks. R-Star fit that mold.
