That's where I'm at too. You can't deny Bynum is more advanced than Greg at this point. Just watch him play people! Dude is averaging 21/12 and greg is 10/8. Defensively? Greg's a little better shot blocker, but more foul prone. Offensively it's not even close. Bynum is much more fluid, mobile, coordinated, and fast than Greg. It is painful. It shouldn't be this way. The good news is Greg has time, and could narrow the gap. Remember when Kobe was running smack about Bynum a few summers ago? About how "horrible" he was? I don't know what happened, but something has just clicked with that guy. He want from awful, to not bad, too pretty good (but injury prone), to a beast. I guess there's hope Greg can dominate someday like Bynum is now. But it's hard to imagine Greg being as versatile offensively - he just doesn't move side to side very fast. I guess we'll see. I hate that we have to "hope" our #1 pick reaches the ability of a #9 "project". And of course, it's the Lakers. How many times does a #9 big man end up dominating like this? Geez.
Bynum certainly puts up good numbers when Pau's out. But exactly how good can he be if the team gets to one finals entirely without him and wins a title with him contributing very little? He's certainly got a lot more offensive polish than Oden, and he looks to be a better defender than Zach Randolph (who is similarly more offensively accomplished than Oden). But to compare him with Howard is just silly. Howard is a game changer. Oden is a lot closer to Howard in that respect - everyone can finally see how different the Blazers are when Oden is in the game. Bynum will always be a very decent second tier center. He'll be vying with Brooke Lopez and Marc Gasol for the title of "the New Brad Daugherty" for years.
I would hardly call giving an opinion on something trolling. Remove your tampon. As for the subject, its prety damn obvious Oden isn't on Bynum's level. COULD he be? obviously. Hell, Andrea Bargnani COULD be the best player in the NBA, doesn't mean it'll happen.
Here is the bigger question. If Oden and Bynum switched teams and started their careers over, who would be better? I have a feeling Oden wouldn't get so many mystery calls and Bynum would be no where near what he is.
I think comparing a 5th year player to a 2nd year player is a waste of time. Of course Bynum is better. He should be. Here is the comparison that makes more sense. Seems pretty comparable to me.
Big Drew doesn't get very many favorable calls. I don't know what Oden's foul trouble is like, but if you watched the Finals last year, you would've seen that Big Drew got a lot of BS called on him.
