Ellis will be traded sometime out of GSW. I think this could be a chance for the Blazers to fill their lineup with 4 Allstar caliber players. This trade works under all salary rules. Portland Receives: Monta Ellis, GSW 2nd rounder GSW Receives: Steve Blake, Jerryd Bayless, Rudy Fernandez, Travis Outlaw http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5287789 Starters: Ellis, Roy, Webster(Batum once healthy), Aldridge, Oden Bench: PG/SG: Miller,Mills SF: Batum, Cunningham PF: Howard, Pendergraph Center: Przy We lose all of our depth this year but the key is that Ellis is signed for 5 seasons, and Aldridge and Roy for 6 seasons. We automatically have 3 dynamic scorers, seems like a magic number for championship teams locked up and a dynamic defender and rebounder in Oden who still has 2 years left on his rookie deal. With 3 extra roster spots we can fill the team with the likes of a Stackhouse (backup SF) and other playoff vets.
I used to think Ellis would be an ideal backcourt partner for Roy but the guy has a piss poor attitude. He throws his teammates under the bus every chance he gets. Maybe not Marbury-crazy but the guy is out of his mind.
Isnt Monte Ellis a PG/SG combo? I thought we needed an answer at 3? Don't we only have one true SF on the team healthy right now?
Lol they would say yes so fast they would probably choke on thier good fortune. Could probably be done for expirings
None of the above. Ellis isn't a "star" player. Many nights, he isn't anything more than an improved version of Damon.
Monta Ellis is a (very) poor man's Allen Iverson. Plus he disappeared completely the one time the Warriors made the playoffs.
I think Ellis would fit perfectly in Portland. He doesn't need the ball in his hands every possession and I don't think you'd see the issues that some of you have mentioned about Roy not liking playing with Miller. Roy would run the offense, Monta would guard PGs- perfect fit. He doesn't have much of an outside shot but he'd be your best guy at getting to the rim. Also, when has he thrown anyone under the bus? It hasn't happened. He said 2 small guys in the backcourt wouldn't work, and he's right. He then talked about what a talented player Curry is. Apparently this fued with Nellie stems from Ellis trying to be a vocal leader and call out his team after a horrible loss to LAC and Nellie to him to shut up. Ellis did what you would hope a leader would do. About him not performing well in the playoffs, he was 21, in his first year starting and playing major minutes, and contributed to one of the biggest upsets in NBA history. But the package suggested wouldn't be close to getting him, IMO. I think Ellis has real value. He's a very good scorer, young, with a reasonable, level contract.
