That's not true. If their parents were responsible and taught their children how to appropriately use alcohol, then there would be no problem with minors drinking.

Plus, you can't trust the parents will raise their kids the right way. Why should my life be endangered because some parents didn't raise their kids right?

Minors can easily access alcohol anyway, so your life is in danger regardless of the drinking age.

Because they weren't taught to be responsible about it by their parents, the argument begins and ends there.

I'm not "judging you" I just think you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to the subject of alcohol and underage drinking.

Yes, because people abuse it. If I abused McDonald's then I would die of a heart attack also.

It was perfectly on topic, I used it to make the point that I could abuse many things as people do with alcohol, and there would be adverse side effects.

but alcohol affects everyone..that mcdonalds thing only effects you personally..drinkin and driving, lots of people die from that..i would guess more people die from drunk drivers than people die from abusing mcdonalds and burger king..and then add on all the other deaths from alcohol..

I understand that, but the same thing can be said about many things like that too. In Massachusetts you're not allowed to drive until you're 17, so if I were a 14 yr old who felt like getting behind the wheel and I couldn't handle the car then I could kill someone also. If people didn't break the law and drive with a blood alcohol level above .08% then there would be no problems with alcohol. If you choose to break the law then of course there will be plenty of repercussions, that's why we have laws.I'm just trying to say that's it not like what they're doing is legal, people who drink and drive pay the consequences for breaking laws that we have for a reason. If I were irresponsible with something like a 9mm pistol then there could be devastating results also. If you follow the law and drink responsibly then you will have no adverse side effects and there should be no problem with that, at any age. If you choose to break the law and abuse alcohol then of course something bad can happen, that's why we have laws against it.

but thats the problem, if you have a .08% your most likely drunk and have no decision making skillsand yes, i understand other things are just as or more dangerous but thats not the point here, the point is that alcohol is and it shouldnt be available to minors

[IMG] Ok, you're not replying to the points I'm making and you're basically saying the same thing over and over without giving solid evidence to back up your views on the matter, so I'm done trying to get my point across for now.

Should parents be more responsible? Yes. But as the government you cannot enforce that and you cannot simply turn your cheek and allow the parents to govern society. Alcohol is a drug and minors should not be allowed to drink it, whether they had good parents or not.Plus, parents can only do so much. They can't hold their kids hand while they are at school or out with their friends. The kid ultimately makes the decision and usually it is the wrong one. There is only so much good parenting can do.
