A good fit next to Roy is on Golden State and it's not Ellis, it's Stephen Curry. We essentially need a PG who can shoot, a James Jones version of a PG.
If we had depth, sure. That depth is depleting. As for Ellis, I like him but don't think he is the right guy for this team. One thing I did notice is, Orlando is suddenly without their point guard. That might be a nice landing spot for Ellis.
I would do it for Ellis and Turiaf. I think Ellis is better for our team than a PG like Miller, imo. I think our team has been better with Roy in control of the ball more. And with Ellis, when Roy is out Ellis becomes the main perimeter player. I think it would work out great, and I really like Monta as a person. Have for a while.
I wouldn't trade for Ellis, but I think I would do this http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yf43tj5 Out goes Blake, Outlaw, and Joel. In comes Maggette and Turiaf. Miller/Bayless/Mills Roy/Rudy Maggette/Webster Aldridge/Turiaf/Cunningham Oden/Turiaf Rotation would be Miller, Roy, Maggette, Aldridge, Oden, Bayless, Rudy, Turiaf. I know a lot of people hate Maggette, but I think he can score consistently and I love Turiaf's game.
As someone who watches the Warriors I think that trade would absolutely kill this team. Maggette is certainly a scorer since he can get to the line at will, but that's all he does (literally). That trade would leave us with Rudy as our sole legitimate outside threat. And for a team that takes pride in and prioritizes spacing so much, I don't think it would work. I like Turiaf though.
Surprisingly enough, we haven't been winning with outside shooting. We've been winning with grind-it-out offense and tough defense. It isn't exciting, but it seems to be working. Maggette and Turiaf would fit in that mold.
