Elton's an undersized PF with a prototypical power forward game and Dirk is and oversized swingman.Good comparison I don't know who I'd go with. Probably Elton because he pretty good on defense and is about even on offense.Dirk is great at just shooting over people but his post game is pretty weak for a man his size.
So because Dirk plays different than most power forwards that is a bad thing? 1. Dirk taking out power forward opens up the lane for more penetration2. Most power forwards can't guard Dirk from the perimeter and Dirk is able to get open looks consistently. 3. Dirk has improved his defense a lot so he is no longer a liability there. So if we were to compare here is how I see it.Shooting=DirkScoring=DirkDefense=TieRebounding=BrandPassing=Tie. The main categories favor Dirk.
Elton Brand is not a great defender. Dirk is better than most people think. There is hardly any difference to say one is better than the other. I would have to look at the stats though. Brand struggles guarding the perimeter and is undersized.
Are you an idiot?Brand is a good defender, but defenses don't even attack Dirk as much, anymore.Plus, Dirk is more of the MVP.Elton Brand might play more of his position, but maybe that's why your 76ers couldn't stop him [Dirk].If all he does is jumpshoot, why is he at 48%? And he's also 41% on three pointers, meaning he's conservative. And since you don't foul jumpshooters, why did Dirk get to the line 7-8 times per game this season? He connected on 90.2% of them, by the way.Elton Brand's rebounding is better, but Dirk would shine-out more if J Ho or Damp weren't there.Dirk averaged something like 29 points and 10 rebounds in a 35-game stretch, or since the All-Star Break.
Why would you have a separate category for shooting and scoring? Just add post scoring too then and Elton gets a point there. You're just favoring Dirk with that ranking system.

He is the worst defensive starter on his team. Brand on the other hand is a monster on the boards, great shotblocker. He is a good defensive player even if he tries to block a bit too many shots, he still holds the post well.He has a far better interior game then Dirk. He is the better rebounder, passer, defender, shotblocker, inside presence.
Okay, fine...Dirk Nowitzki: 26.6 PPG (2,151 Points)Elton Brand: 24.7 PPG (1,953 Points)Elton Brand: 52.7% FG (756-1,435) Dirk Nowitzki: 48.0% FG (751-1,564)Dirk Nowitzki: 40.6% 3FG (110-271)Elton Brand: 33.3% 3FG (1-3)Dirk Nowitzki: 90.1% FT (539-598)Elton Brand: 77.5% FT (440-568)

Brand is slow and undersized for a power forward. Brand a better post defender and Dirk a better perimeter and pick and roll defender.
If Dirk is at the 3 point line and misses who's there to get the rebound? Eric Dampier? Haha. Playing out of his position has it's good and bad points. And I can't believe you use Dirk's team as a reason for him not getting rebounds. Elton is clearly the better rebounder despite being shorter because he's more powerful and I hate to be cliche but not as soft.Scoring is even because Dirk doesn't have much of post game but Elton is the most you can ask for from a PF, killer power game down lo and a mid range J that's just money.I guess Dirk is over in overall offense playing within the system and opening up spots but that's only because he has more of an SF game.I'm still going to have to go with Brand on this.

True, Terry is also a liability. Both of them are.
Brand doesn't take 3's, he's a full 4% higher on FG% and he shoots a good FT% to Dirk's excellent FT%.

It was already proven by Waqas stats. The only thing Brand is better at is rebounding. Dirk has post up smaller players this year better than he ever has. He is deadly in the mid post. Just throw a big body on Brand and you can contain him. For example what Diop and Dampier have done to him.

Dirk's team is clearly better than Brand's even though the Clippers are loaded with talent. Kaman, Cassell, Maggette, Livingston, and etc.
I can name plenty of things that Brand is better at then Dirk.Shotblocker, rebounder, low post scorer, posting up, defense, passing.Dirk is better at shooting and scoring. Woo Hoo.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (mavsfan1000 @ Apr 21 2006, 06:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Exactly. Brand only shoots 2. I know that Dirk can hit them but I would much rather have a low post beast, good defender, solid jumper and great shotblocker then a guy who can stretch the defense apart and shoot the lights out but cant play defense.

Brand is easy to shoot over because of his size. You are greatly overrating Brand's defense. It is Kaman that is always guarding Dirk and he is a better defender than Brand. Brand does not pass better than Dirk. You are making yourself look stupid with comments like that. Neither pass well. It's not like it is a huge rebounding difference either.
The Mavs have more talent than the Clippers do, they're the deeper team.If you exclude 3 point percentage then it's basically a tie, 4% FG or 13% FT, I'd call that about even.Elton clearly has the advantages in areas other than offense, so I'd say he's the better player.
