"It's much better to learn a lesson in a win than in a loss. I'm just happy we pulled it out, and hopefully this doesn't happen again." ~Brandon Roy EDIT. Here's another: "I like what we're doing, but we can still get better. Miller does a nice job of kind of quarterbacking our defense and making reads out there." ~Nate McMillan
We've blown leads and lost. Philadelphia was an especially embarrassing loss from last season? Or was it the season before? Regardless, I remember we were up big and lost the game. We shouldn't have to learn this lesson.
A better quote from Ben @ BEdge "I ask Brandon Roy what his role is. He asks me what his role is. Neither 1 of us knows." hmmm
"we will figure it out" when does that line get old? i heard that in october... its thanksgiving next week champ
Now that you mention it, I remember a thought I had about that game. That Philly game was the first time that Blazers team was trapped full court and had a team really put pressure on them. They didn't know how to hand those traps and pressure and they threw the ball away a lot and lost the game. Same thing happened last night, first time a team really put defensive pressure full court on the squad and they ALMOST melted in a similar fashion. Good thing they gutted out the win.
Oh yea? We should just pick up right were we left off in June? Where we had a full roster and set rotation? What a joke...
My question to you, and to the team for that matter is, do you want to be good enough to barely escape the Detroit Pistons at home, or do you want to be good enough to win an NBA championship. This win felt like a loss. Right now, this team isn't fooling anybody.
I want this team to be playing at their best all season long! No doubt. But if we are playing like crap and WINNING, I'm OK with that. Better then playing well and losing. I would rather have a good showing and win, but I can't hate on my favorite team when we win. Just can't.
I don't think folks are hating on Portland. They are justly concerned about some issues surrounding the team that would lead them to believe Portland will not be able to compete with the better teams in the WC. I am one of these people. I am happier they won then I would be if they lost. But I sure could be WAY happier with the way Portland has played of late.
Three years ago we lose that game. Difference is this team overcame adversity of losing the big lead and pulled out a tight win at the end. Talk about good experience . . . the Blazers clicked for a couple of quarters (hopefully future is clicking for 4 quarters) and they were tested at the end of the game and passed (hitting big shots and free throws to ice the game). great experience for the Blazers and a win to boot.
So what is the Lakers problem? They blew the same lead to the same team and won by the same amount. Are the Laker's in trouble? Or is it too early for them to panick?
