It was horrible, but even more painful was how much the refs were falling for it. I remember LaMarcus just barely moved against him and you could see Maggette square up and brace himself for his own throw backwards before he hit the deck. It was like watching a very skilled stuntman.
What Aldridge should do is not go to the hoop, but just rise up and shoot over him. Its would be like the old days when PG would rise up and shoot over Damon Stoudamire at will and can jumpers just like taking them in practice. It's like nobody is even there.
Does this starting lineup sound about right? Anthony Randolph, PF , 6-10, 11.8 PPG vs LaMarcus Aldridge: PF , 6-11 Anthony Morrow, SG , 6-5, 11.2 PPG vs Brandon Roy: SG , 6-6 Mikki Moore, PF , 7-0. 4.4 PPG vs Greg Oden : C , 7-0 Monta Ellis, PG , 6-3 , 19.5 PPG vs Steve Blake: PG , 6-3 Stephen Curry, G , 6-3 9.3 PPG vs Andre Miller: PG , 6-2
Sort of. I'm not really sure you can say that lineups and positions matter all that much in a Nellie-ball lineup. It's just as likely that his bigs will be out on the perimeter and his smalls on the inside. The guys that worry me the most are Ellis because of his blazing speed and his ability to get our bigs into foul trouble, plus Randolph can play like a wing even though he's likely to be at power forward or center which could really stretch Greg or LaMarcus. The thing is it's almost impossible to say how he will match his players up on defensive assignments, he almost seems to revel in the confusion that his odd-ball matchups create (like the Maggette on Aldridge matchup last year).
Hopefully, but I doubt it. I expect to see Maggette and Radmanovic instead of Morrow and Randolph. I'm actually OK with Maggette starting as long as he knows he's in there to get to the basket and put 2 quick fouls on Oden and especially LMA. NO JUMPSHOTS!!!
Even if Maggette SF was put in there for starting, is there a possibility that Nate would put in Rudy Fernandez (starting) instead. I doubt Webster (SF) could keep up with Maggette's speed or lack of defending him.
well at least one of your two big men should get a double double....GS is the team you get 20/20 games on....like Lamar Odom
Can't we just start a thread called "IF WE DONT WIN BE ____ POINTS, THEN MIXUM WILL THROW A HISSYFIT," where Mixum posts what game and how many points we need to win by? It sure would cut down on threads like this.
I recall the first game in Oakland last season. Because of injuries to some of their Bigs, Maggette started at PF. He flopped LA out of the game in less then 20 minutes and the W's received blatant home town treatment throughout. Remember the end of the game breakaway foul on Rudy's jersey for getting wrapped around Morrow's hand? If the refs let these two teams play on equal terms, Portland should crush them early... here's guessing the Blazers have some foul issues early again. btw... Mikki Moore is a legit sized center. He isn't very good, but he is as big as several other starting 5s around the league. And Anthony Randolph is not an undersized PF. He'll develop more as he ages, but he's got about the same frame as LA which is plenty of size. I'm not sure why Nellie doesn't play him more as his per minute stats are outstanding. STOMP
Because Nellie is trying to drive anyone with talent out of GS. Up next, Monta, followed closely by Randolph and eventually Curry.
my guess is he wants AR to bang, board, and set picks (big man stuff) while Randolph wants to handle the ball and shoot jumpers like Travis Outlaw. I'm exaggerating a bit here, but it's my feel that Don is dangling his minutes based on how well he does the grunt work. The kid is obviously very talented and it's only a matter of time until he's featured. STOMP
