I am a little baffled by this move by Nate. I was pretty sure that he went to the 3 guard lineup so that he could get Miller and Roy acclimated to one another and then move Blake to the bench all the while having him save face. This move really baffles me. I was at the game last night. Blake was terrible. His shooting has been terrible. He was what 2 of 9 last night? Miller can't be happy and being a vet playing behind an inferior player makes me a bit nervous going forward that this team might implode from the inside out. Nates substitutions are bad enough, now Bayless is going to be relegated to only garbage minutes in blowouts. Too much talent on our team to be wasted like this. Frustrating.

Is it wrong for me to hope for an injury for you-know-who?

Too bad Dwight Jaynes wasn't around. He was pretty tough on the Blake thing in his blog today.

The source says Steve's eyes remind him of Jarrett. And that special way he walks. And oh, those summer nights!

I'm just saying it's a little unusual for the coach and the point guard to shower together, that's all.

On an entirely different topic and worthy I guess of its own thread. Do you think that there could be a developing rift between Pritchard and Nate? I mean, Pritchard brought in all these players via draft and free agency and the way they are being used can't make him all too happy. Especially after all the grief that Pritchard took this summer not being able to get a free agent and when he does Nate won't start him (Miller). This will make the media question the reason as why get him in the 1st place. Maybe there was already a rift because of different philosophies. Maybe that is why Nate only signed a 1 year deal?????:dunno:

That was one of our best units last year. It was an absolutely fantastic unit, as far as win percent was concerned. The only other unit that played much against the other team's best players that was as good or better was Blake-Fernandez-Roy-Outlaw-Aldridge.

    I l think that a Blake-Rudy-Roy-LMA-Oden would not be a bad unit.

It's time to reboot Brandon Roy. It's time to let Miller do what Miller do best - which is not play in the half-court.

So Blake "won" the PG spot?

Does anyone h...wait, never mind. My brain doesn't want to try to think like Nate.

No, I think Brandon Roy won it on offense. Blake already had it on defense.

So you think it'd good for the franchise to throw up its hands and say, "We can't win with Oden and Brandon on the floor together"?

I think that would be a ridiculous thing to say... and I hope they never do.

Secondly, if you have Oden and Miller in the second unit, one of the two of them is not going to be optimized.

Again, though: glad this didn't come to fruition!

No. That's why I added the note about the Blake-Rudy-Roy-LMA-Oden unit below.

I pointed out that as a unit - that was a very good one last year, and if the team thinks that Oden will benefit more from getting the interior passes from Miller - I can live with it.

I would have rather seen the Blake/Rudy/Roy/LMA/Oden team and have a team with Miller/JB/Web/Dante/Joel as our fast team.

I hope they only do it if it is proved that it does not work, but as a stand-alone data point - that was a very very good unit last year.

Is that really true? You have a fantastic rebounder in Greg who can start the fast-break from the defensive rebound - and if the fast break boggles - you have the team's best post-feed PG giving it to Greg in the post playing inside out. I actually do not think I agree with you on that one.

Greg is not going to thrive as an offensive player any time soon as part of a running team, and if Miller is in the second unit in order to push the basketball, then that is fewer possessions to feed Oden.

    *shrug*

Kind of all academic. Even more than most of the things we disagree about :)

Bwahahahaha!!!! Blake is so much better than Miller, no wonder he's starting. By the way, he loves Portland!! We have a weak-minded front office. Successful businessmen are able to put business before personal relationships.

Well I'm happy now. I thought the loss last night was because the team played like crap but it turns out that it was because of Miller.
