Blake should be starting. Webster must also start. We desperately need scoring off the bench. Who could we get for Miller than could fill that role. This would also give Bayless more minutes as back up PG.
I think it's way too early to be thinking about this. Its just one game against a sub-par opponent. Let's see how things go against better opponents first.
The thing is that for Oden and Roy to play well, they need shooters outside to create room for them. Martell and Blake are those shooters. Plus, Blake is good at getting Oden easy baskets. Miller is a bad fit for this team and has been all season. And we desperately need another scorer on the bench. Desperately. We can't count on Joel for 14 points every night.
In the game thread for the Timberwolves there were 149 posts while the game was still active. Of those 149 posts one poster accounted for 53 posts. In case you're not counting that is 36% of all posts by one poster. Of those 53 posts during the game one single player was brought up 36 times. So out of 53 posts from one individual 36 were about one player, or 68%. Wow! But it gets even more impressive when you break it down. Out of this poster's first 12 posts in the game thread only 1 post was about this certain player. That's only 8%, such restraint. However out of his final 40 posts an astounding 35 were about this single player, that is a mind blowing 88% of his posts.
By the way... can anyone answer the question? What can we get for Miller? Fuck, Turkoglu would be looking REALLY great off our bench. He could play SF or PF (or SG or PG if needed). Fuck, fuck, fuck.
It's quite difficult to calculate a percentage. Not nearly as obsessively posting about one player throughout a game thread. *edited*
You argued that the Blazers should let Blake run the team in another thread. Well, if we're going to have a PG actually run the team, rather than running everything through B-Roy, we should give Miller and the team time to adjust and let him run the team, as he's more proven as a PG running a team. That being said, Blake's contract is reasonable and it's a final year, so he should have some trade value. Plus, whoever takes Blake now has the best backup PG in the league.
Seriously? You're going to pull that out? You have a lot of time to waste I guess. Which is proven by your calculations. Some would say it takes a certain kind of mental illness to spend all that time running through those calculations. Coulda sworn Tom Cruise was in a movie about something like this.
I have no idea what we could get for Miller.. but at any rate I don't see any chance of him being traded. I wasn't that high on Turkoglu in the off season, but with our injuries he certainly would be really nice.
It took about 5 minutes to count and calculate. This simple math may seem like an enigma to you, but that's probably why you're posting at S2 and not engaging in mature basketball conversations elsewhere.
Miller's inability to make three point shots hurts both Roy and Oden. He hasn't had much success in this league. He's been in the NBA for over 10 years and has never won a playoff series. I'm not interested in forcing Miller to work on this team. I'm interested in maximizing our strengths and winning a championship. Championship teams need Fishers, Kerrs, and Paxsons, players who can knock down key three pointers when defenses collapse on the star players in key playoff series. The more three point shooters around Oden, the better for us. But whether or not you agree with me, I still ask the question: Who can we get for Miller?
It is pretty simple math. The enigma is why on earth you are spending your Saturday night on such a calculation.
They are rare exceptions but Miller isn't even close to being as good as either of them and Parker is a MUCH better three point shooter than Miller. Miller is not a winner in this league.
Blake hits some big 3's, but he hurt us on some shots when it really mattered in the playoffs. Teams often leave him open at the 3-point line, and considering how often he is left open, one has to think it's for a reason. As for your question, I can't imagine Miller's worth a lot. He'll be worth more near the trade deadline, if some team is really in need of a PG, or some team on the brink of the next tier (like being on the cusp of a playoff spot, or wanting to go from a playoff team to a deeper team). Or more next trade deadline when he's an expiring contract. At this time, I just can't see us getting much without throwing in something sweet.
