he is tanking it when the ball isnt going threw him.....and whining to the media that is not "handling" it at all that is refusing to handle it.
These teams ran a much faster pace than what Portland does. So, either Portland will have to run more - or Roy will likely be in the 18-20 PPG range, 18 if LMA proves to be a big part of the scoring load as we have seen so far, 20 if he does not.
I understand that, but Bryant, and especially Wade, both started to score more ppg in the playoffs in their championship seasons with Shaq. Wade even won Finals MVP. Comparing Oden to Shaq seems like a stretch to me at this point. If that's a minority opinion, I'm comfortable with being in the minority.
Not a minority opinion at all. Outside of a few people in this forum, NBA fans are well aware that Oden has a long way to go. The real debate, is how to get him there.
I agree that very few fans of the NBA overall see Oden as being Shaq-worthy, but I will add that a much larger majority on this site (at least that post) see Oden as being Shaq-worthy. It's a skewed debate here at this point, and it has little to do with reality.
This! I believe that this will bear out in the games ahead if Roy and others decide to pass it to him.
I'm guessing it means that trashing Brandon Roy is ridiculous. Unless you meant otherwise in your post?
Reviving the franchise is one thing, winning championships is another. I am very thankful to Roy for being the catalyst that revived the franchise and brought the team out of the doldrums. I never mentioned Miller in my post, so get over yourself. I said Roy is going to have to realize that it is going to be much harder for him to be a premier scorer in this league when we are feeding the ball into the post. Roy is a very good player, but are you ready to put him on the same plain as Kobe or Wade? You're right, Greg Oden isn't Shaq. He's already a waaaay better defensive player. He probably won't average 30 ppg, but I think it's realistic to think he could average 20ppg in a league filled with guys like Al Jefferson and Mikki Moore starting at center.
Sorry, I was talking about post-Shaq, when the Lakers had no dominant post presence... unless you count Kwame Brown.
And Shaq wouldn't have those 3 without Kobe. They were each equally important to winning those titles. And I agree about Oden for you guys. If you're going to win titles, he has to become a dominant player. He has shown flashes, though he needs to keep his head in the game. He picks up too many fouls, which limits his effectiveness on both ends of the game. If he could stay out of foul trouble and develop some post-up moves, I think he's got a phenomenal future. I can easily see him developing in to the 2nd best center in the West behind Bynum In all seriousness though, he's got potential to be one of the best, but he's got a ways to go before he gets there, and it really starts with him simply being able to stay on the court. If he can do that, he'd have a much greater impact on the game.
