McMillan: Blazers 'Need Bodies' http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/62954/20091123/mcmillan_blazers_need_bodies/ What does this mean? Trade coming?
It's certainly intriguing. McMillan is the kind of guy who might accidently spill the beans so there is that.
Could be a trade. Could be major moves in the rotation. Nate often alludes to trades that never come off. Could mean we're waiving a player or two. I wouldn't read too much into all this.
I like how he says we didn't expect 4 of them on the inactive list when we signed two of those guys after they were injured and out.
It nate stating the obvious that everyone knows who follow the Blazers. KP is a pussy and is afraid to deal.... but I got news for KP... hes got no choice this time. We simply have no backup at the PF spot thats capable of getting the job done. Kp said we would see how howard does. Well that has failed badly. Next Cunningham... and we know how that wil turn out. Not to mention... Miller is not happy. He needs to be traded. Maybe that was teh plan from day 1 but its a must at this point. So that means we need a SF, backup PF, and PG since blake is leaving us and bayless cant even succeed in the summer league. but yeah... i think its pretty fucking obvious we need a trade BADLY. hey at least Roy will be happy.
I am available for a couple of 10 day contracts. I think I can take a month straight off now if I needed to I have enough vacation days...
I think the JP signing was just a show of good class. Drafting a kid and then he needs surgery. So we pick up the bill, make him do all our PR stuff like Frye last year. A good show of class, unlike Arizona fans. In any event, sucks we don't have Ime right now. But I still would rather have a chance on Mills being great and maybe this whole situation will force us to make a trade.
Signing Perdergraph was questionable. Signing Mills was just plain stupid. Once his foot healed, he could have played overseas and we'd still retain his rights without eating up a rsoter spot. Ironically, we may now need to release him and forfeit his rights to sign someone else who can actually play. If that happens, the move backfires and is even more stupid than I originally thought. BNM
I seem to remeber that he kind of forced the team's hands. Had we declined to sign him, we would have had to waive his rights or something.
Backfire? What did they lose? $400K for his salary? Big money for most people, no-issue for a NBA basketball team taking a flier on a guy they think could be a player one day. Keep things in perspective, guys. Sure, it would be nice to get Ime right now - but let's face it - Ime Udoka is a sub-10 PER guy this year, as he was last year. In his break-out year with Portland, he was a 12 PER guy. No offense to Ime - but it should not be too hard to find someone that gives you this production mid-season if they absolutely need to - and all they will lose is whatever it cost them to sign Mills for the year. Heck, if you need a less than 10 PER guy to play SF - we can just play Dante out of position... (For the record, in the very few minutes Dante did play, he gives us 23.5 PER so far, all of it at PF, however).
