Did you read this part that I wrote? I believe it was you who dodged my point with your response. Outlaw, Webster, Przybilla, Blake, and Jack all preceded Roy and are all just as classy. Same thing can be said about Aldridge, Rudy, Batum, Oden. Why are you giving Roy ALL the credit for the makeover of the franchise? Yes, he's the face. But he's nothing without his teammates. He's a first round loser at best right now, so why the cumstains all over his pictures?
Alright man. Im not gonna argue with you who is better for this team, Blake or Miller. The post was about Roy. So, thats all i have to say on this issue
Jordan? Yes. Jordan was always changing his game. Jordan could score 60+ and his team would lose. He learned that he had to get his teammates involved if he wanted to win championships. He became a 1st team defensive player. He developed a post up game. Hell yes he changed his game. Jordan was never happy with his game. Wade? Too soon to tell. He's still young, and he's only won one title. When he wins without Shaq, I will tell you what I think. LeBron? What has he won? No rings yet home boy. He might be one of the best players of all-time, but until he wins a ring, he will be on the same list as Barkley, Ewing, Stockton, and Malone. I think we're getting ahead of ourselves by comparing Roy to Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Don't you?
This IS Roy's team - not Miller's! Since Roy is THE MAN, he probably feels obligated to make sure management knows what allows him to perform optimally. Other super stars (Kobe, Wade, CP3) also make their opinions known. If a super star has in issue with someone, whether it be their manner of play or how bad they smell, that person is gone. Is it fair? who cares. Professional sports is not fantasy sports. If you believe that assembling the best team is simply putting the best statistical PG, SG, SF, PF, and C together, then you have no sense of reality. It simply doesn't work that way. But, I'm sure it does on PlayStation. Finally, Blake is not as bad as this forum likes to believe. If he was, they could have easily replaced him before. He also started for the Denver Nuggets that got to the playoffs and lost to eventual champ Spurs. And, if that is not incredible enough, he DID get along with AI.
No, Roy and a bunch of stiffs wouldn't get into the playoffs. However I don't see this as much of a knock on Roy. The only players in the NBA who can pull a collection of garbage into the playoffs are named LeBron, Kobe and Wade. There is no shame in not being at that level. Roy isn't right now and will probably never be. But the teams turn around isn't just based on winning. Fans started coming back during the season they won 30 some games. They started coming back due to a massive "We changed the culture of the team" blitz that centered on B-Roy. That couldn't have been comfortable or easy to deal with. Roy handled it with more class then I could have possibly hoped for. Roy is very honest with his opinions when he is asked a question. And he gets killed for it. Would you rather Roy just utter the typical athlete speak? If he never got quoted with his opinion would you be happier with him? I am glad Roy is so up front with what he feels is needed by the team. Having opinions typically entails someone not agreeing with you. Roy has an opinion. Apparently a large number of people including some in the media don't agree. Like it or not Roy is the man on this team right now and for the next 6 years. If you can't stand the guy or think he is arrogant you are in for a very long half a decade. One last thing to keep in mind; these quotes are taken from a story by Jason Quick in the Oregonian. How do you know he actually said what was printed? Reporters tend to take liberties with such things. Changing a few words could have a dramatic effect on tone. Perhaps he said some other stuff along with those quotes that make them more reasonable. Who can say? I for one have felt for some time Quick was a tool with an agenda. Jaynes used to do this same shit back in the day. Until I see a video interview with Roy saying the above, as far as I am concerned there is only a 50/50 chance he actually said exactly that.
