Odom is a good defender and a great rebounder. Too bad Kobe can't play defense as well. All this inconsistent defense <Censored> is lame. Dirk can play defense just as well as Kobe. I guess Odom is the scapegoat for the Lakers not being as good as they should be. It is never Kobe's fault. I'll point out Kobe's poor defense tomorrow against the suns. How many times he fails to rotate to get to Bell or whatever.

That's right. Kobe is God. I guess my eyes have been deceiving me of all the blown defense coverage Kobe has made. I get better info from laker homers on a forum than by watching the games.

I'm just going to chime in here for a second to voice my displeasure with the "Kobe can't/doesn't play defense" argument.Kobe has been named to the All-NBA Defensive (first) team four times in his career, and he is a solid defender at this point in his career as well. Obviously, like most offensively-minded players, he will take some possessions off on defense to conserve energy for the offensive end.To say Kobe can't play defense is flat wrong. Sometimes he might not choose to defend, but he certainly is capable of holding his man.

It's sad because even non laker fans admit kobe is a better defender than Dirk. I really should stop arguing with you.

I never said Kobe can't play defense. He just loses interest and defense is about focus and Kobe loses that a lot. A lot of people are weak in that area in the nba.

I was just reading over this because melo told me to check it out. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Dirk can play defense just as well as Kobe.</div>I don't agree with this statement at all. Now Dirk has improved, but he's still a average defender who occasionally lapses. Other then that, I can see how mavsfan says Kobe doesn't d it up at times, but the guy can play defense if you watched him. Like mo says, there's games he puts his effort on the offensive end that leaves him stale on the other side of the court but he does have the ability to man up opposition. Also, if balla is accurate with his numbers(he's not good at math), are you on 15 hours a day mavsfan? [IMG]

I was on and off today with the 4 games going on. I am dedicated to this site growing so I am willing to pause tv to get on here every 15-20 minutes to check the latest post. I got tivo. [IMG] Kobe is a good one on one defender but he is not a good off the ball defender. People don't notice the second part as much so I guess that is why people think he is a good defender overall.

Put any superstar swingman in that situation the Lakers would be winning championships. In particular Tracy Mcgrady, Lebron James, and Dwyane Wade. Shaq made everyone better and the chemistry was right offensively and defensively.</div>Simple enough question to answer with one word...no.
