No word yet whether Spike will show a couple of the undercard bouts--Gouveia vs. Belcher and Wiman vs. Nelson would both be worth showing, probably.

Re: UFC 107: Penn vs. Sanchez (Dec. 12th)

I'm beginning to convince myself that Diego may be able to beat Penn. He has vastly improved his striking, has high energy that never stops and if he can avoid taking a lot of damage in the first he may be able to tire BJ out and win the last 2 rounds. I don't think he'll be very effective with takedowns, but his striking may be enough.

Then I stop and think of how BJ is just a natural with his hands and he's going to nail Diego a couple of times early and drain Diego's enthusiasm early and make him cautious..

I'm really interested in seeing how this plays out.

and of course Clay Guida vs Ben Stiller is a must :p

and the return of my boy Paul Buentello on the main card!!! Nuts!! Just gotta work his takedown D and Struve is toast! (hey a guy can dream can't he ;) )

Can Diego get Penn down and keep him there? I think standing it is to Penn's advantage because Diego is kind of wild, but if Diego can get and maintain top position he can make it a long night for B.J.

Re: UFC 107: Penn vs. Sanchez (Dec. 12th)

Only GSP and Matt Hughes at 170 have had much success putting BJ on the ground, I don't see Diego putting BJ and keeping him there.
I think with Diego training with boxing instructor's his boxing will be more crisp and will be the best striking BJ has seen in a while.
He has better speed and power then Kenny IMO.

If Penn takes him seriously I don't think Diego can handle him.

Re: UFC 107: Penn vs. Sanchez (Dec. 12th)

I would be surprized if Penn manages to finish Diego.

Diego's cardio has always been ridiculously good. He has quality wrestling and transitions, and he is a big LW.

Before Penn got into really good shape with Marv Morenovich, I thought Diego for sure would beat a poor conditioned Penn over 5 rounds.

If Penn maintains or improves his conditioning, I think he is still the favourite, but Diego is not one to be taken lightly.

BJ Penn is gonna jab the shit out of Diego, this is gonna be GSP/Penn 1 but without the part where Penn gasses.

Re: UFC 107: Penn vs. Sanchez (Dec. 12th)

The two big questions for this fight in my mind, BJ's Hand speed vs Diego's, BJ's Cardio.

If BJ has significantly better hands, the cardio may not even be an issue. I think BJ can finish Diego with strikes. He's got that killer instinct once he hurts someone.
