I want to see the upcoming movie, The Blind Side, (Sandra Bulloch and Tim McGraw) which relates the touching/amazing story of Michael Oher who now plays for the Baltimore Ravens. Looks like it could be very good.
I read the wikipedia, there was some criticism about Oher's choice to go to college, the parents seemed to steer him towards their alma mater....
We're going this afternoon as part of our "therapy" from the enrichment seminar. I'll let y'all know how it all played out.
Good movie. I like those that are based on true events. Liked seeing all the "real" photos and film clips at the end of the movie. Even had a tear when I saw Goodell read Oher's name.
I haven't seen this film, but man does it seem condescending in the previews. Rich white woman comes in and saves poor angelic black boy from ghetto neighborhood and evil-doing black relatives. *shrug* I always cringe a little when I see black people portrayed in one-dimensional roles of ruthless hood/helpless victim/comic relief. Was I reading too much into the trailer, ABM?
......which is exactly why my wife chose it for our marriage encounter date night. All said, though, it wasn't too bad. Certainly better than some of the other cf's she's dragged me to.
I totally thought that Kathy Lee Gifford was the star of that movie. Not as the lineman drafted by the Ravens. Ed O.
