I know I made this thread last year and it was pretty split, so lets do it again this year. Calvin Johnson Andre Johnson Wes Welker Randy Moss Desean Jackson (yeah, vote for him Brian) Vincent Jackson Reggie Wayne You have to pick one WR to be the core of your WR unit, you're go to guy for your QB.
I'm still going Andre Johnson. He's been so damn consistent and underrated since coming into the league and he is the only consistent player the Texans have. He can go deep, over the middle, or short. He's got damn good hands and is big. Plus, you never hear him bitching. Moss is amazing, but age has to be a factor with him. How much longer can he produce like this? I want to see Welker in an offense without another star WR next to him. Calvin Johnson, I think, is eventually going to be a top 2 WR. In terms of VJ and DJ, I think they haven't been doing it long enough. Vincent is amazing, reminds me of TO, but doesn't demand the ball as much as he should/could. I'd like to see him be more vocal and run shorter routes, as well. We all know he can go deep and jump up and get it, but I want to see him become more dimensional. Same with Desean.
I'm not a homer, punk. But yeah, if I had to pick a WR, I would go with Andre Johnson. Followed closely by Randy Moss. What ever happened to Larry Fitz? He was amazing in the postseason last year, but it seems like he's been under the radar lately. Or is he having a disappointing season? His numbers don't look that bad...
In opinion, Andre Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald. Fitz hasn't had a lot of attention so far this season, and I suppose he has been underwhelming consider how crazy he was in the playoffs but that guy is still really good and I think the injuries Boldin has had this season might of allowed teams to focus more on Fitzgerald. That might explain his numbers this season.
Hail Mary, game on the line, you want Moss streaking down the sideline. Don't think I'd want him for the whole season tho.
Do you think Welker would be just as good or better without Moss on the team, or do you think Moss opens it up a lot for Welker? I don't consider Nmandi Asomugha to be the best CB in the league anymore, either. I was reading that he refused to play on the left side of the field because he feels uncomfortable on that side. Lame shit.
Welker benefits from Moss about as much as Moss benefits from Welker. If you really think that Welker is a product of Moss, then you have to rank Moss #1 since I don't see any of these other douches causing a guy on their team to lead the league in receptions and yards after catch.
Where did you read that? And who do you consider the best CB in the league? Where do you rank Asomugha now?
Game on the line, and my boy Stafford better hit Calvin. Or he better run around like he is trying to get him open, and get drilled in the processes. With all things being equal, IE chemistry, knowing the play book I would take anyone NOT named Roy Williams on my team. THE WORST For real, give me Reggie Wayne or Driver...
Moss is one of the few guys top 3 in yards and TDs for his position. Yeah Andre Johnson had a nice season last year, Moss has had an epic career. He caught 11 TDs (second in the league) in 08 with a career backup in his first season. Injury wise Andre Johnson has had to suffer more in the past three years, missing some time in 2007. I think Moss' style is conducive to a long playing career he should be fine and it is showing.
After we beat you guys, I was browsing a Raiders' board and all of them were bitching about Asomugha because we kept lining VJ up on the left to keep him away from Aso...and it worked, he never covered him on the left. I don't know who would be #1, Reevis? Mathis? Bailey? Aso is still a top 3 by far, but I don't respect the fact that he won't cover on the left side.
Legacy what do you want to see from your team? You had solid effort this past week are things changing a little?
According to a lot of Raiders' fans, Aso refuses to play coverage on the left side of the field. They said he claims to not feel comfortable on that side, so when teams line their best WR on that side, the Raiders' are stuck with their 2nd best CB on them. The Chargers' exploited this non-stop with Vincent Jackson a few weeks back. I'll look for the thread.
Moss. I've never seen a football player more physically imposing than him. Yes he's not as quick as before, but he's still in the top 2 percentile in pure speed. Last year, a 31 year old Moss clocked faster than a 23 year old Calvin Johnson. Fitzgerald had a great postseason, and yeah Boldin is injured, but last year he had his best games when Boldin was out. Moss still jumps higher, runs faster and has become a really good (and dedicated) route runner. I'd go with Moss followed by Andre at #2. I didn't knock on Andre because he's been a true professional his whole career. And i'd agree with Thrilla on Moss and Welker needing each other, but Welker clearly needs him more.
