That'd be stupid for them to do it. I realize they'd give him a chance at a title, but as I've said all along, I don't think he's worried about that. I think he wants to go somewhere where he'll get minutes and put up points, and that won't be in Boston.

And I could see this destroying the chemistry of this team too.

They would definitely sign him if Pierce or Allen got hurt.

    So much for that ...

Allen Iverson is planning to retire from the NBA, nationally syndicated radio host and Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Stephen A. Smith reports.

Iverson's representatives have told Smith of Iverson's plans on Wednesday

I wonder how many guys retire less than a season after being an all-star.

You should be happy, he'd have been a disaster here.

I don't agree. You can say plenty of negative things about AI, but you can't say he doesn't care about winning. The guy played his heart out every night. That said, I wouldn't want him on my team. He wants to play for a contender AND start - so he's delusional. I don't think he'd be happy playing 40 minutes a night and putting up 25 shots for a 20-62 team. I'm not entirely sure he wouldn't be happy coming off the bench for a team like Boston - it's hard to say. His quote was that he didn't want to come off the bench for "a rebuilding team". It's a huge risk, but somebody will take it. I'm watching Orlando. Who knows when J. Nelson will be back and it what capacity, and you're not going to compete for a title with Jason Williams and Anthony Johnson. If they start to struggle, they maybe a chance on AI.

It definitely wouldn't have been Marbury 2.0

At least Marbury had KG to keep him in check. Who would check AI? The guy is a cancer. The Nuggets instantly became a better team when he left and they got Billups. He's the definition of "me first".
