I think it has a lot to do with margin of wins. We've been blowing people out. OMG +11.4 points in the last 10 games. That's amazing, since we lost a couple during that stint.
Including one by double digits in Oaktown. It looks like ATL and us were the beneficiaries of Denver sliding more than anything. So it's not like we've been storming the charts so much as holding while others move down.
We have the 2nd best point differential in the league. We're very close to 1st. I respect Hollinger's system. A couple seasons ago, he had Houston really high on his list despite a not very good record (10th in the West at the time) and then guess what happened? The Rockets won 22 games in a row. It was like his formula knew that was going to happen.
