In a world full of "celebrities" who delight in shoving their views in your face, Roy just wants to quietly stand alone in a tunnel. More people should follow his example!

I don't know if Roy is making a political statement, except insofar as he is NOT making a political statement. That political statement is that I respect those who take the National Anthem seriously.

Clearly, some players take the National Anthem seriously themselves, while I'm sure some are actively disgusted by what it represents. But their attendance during its playing demonstrates respect for the fans who give a hoot.

Roy choosing that time to do his own thing is saying, "I don't care about that." He doesn't need to come out and SAY it, because his actions indicate it.

It's not important to me that he cares about it, and I (personally) think the National Anthem before games is more pomp and circumstance than patriotism, but I also think it's a legit thing for people to discuss and even be critical of him about.

Well, from seeing both your posts, the word "*****rdly" isn't being filtered, but the slang that happens to be be within the word is being filtered. Thus, part of the word is surviving.

Well, the proper spelling of the entire word is not allowed, but an incorrect spelling of the similar-sounding slur component is being filtered out.

    Weak sauce.

What's being filtered out is a very common slang, which I think is an appropriate filter. (Remember, the 'r' is NOT being filtered...it's a correctly-spelled slang that is being filtered, not an incorrectly-spelled slur.)

Now, could the filter do a better job of recognizing that an unrelated word that just happens to contain the filtered slang should be left intact? Absolutely.

It's obvious because Roy doesn't care enough about the anthem to be on the court when the rest of his team is standing there. If he cared, he would be on the court.

Really? People spell the "n-word" with an "a"?

OH! I see. The "r" is intact. I missed that.

OK. Well, that makes more sense. Yes, intra-word filtering could be better, but I understand why it's not.
