Allen Iverson proved to be unconforming right to the bitter end: http://www.hoopsmanifesto.com/articles/basketball/dying-for-his-cause.html
Well I liked him in Philly... sad because he still has a lot left in the tank. He can still easily contribute off the bench and possibly be in the running for 6th man of the year, if only he accepted a lesser role and tweaked his game a bit. Too bad he would rather go out like this rather than facing reality and helping a team win or contend for a championship.
I say good riddance. He was one of the most selfish players to ever step on the court, and this only proves that further. He always cared more about individual statistics than winning, and again, this proved it. I'm sure, if he'd have accepted a lesser role, he could have been picked up by another team, but he let his ego get in the way. Good. Fucking. Riddance. On a random note, I remember back on a round of Around The Forum back in the ol' JBB days where I had to argue as AI as the best player in the NBA. That was one of the most painful things I've ever done, but I won that debate, and rightfully so, lol.
Hey, I was just arguing for the guy that was assigned to me. Not my fault. Trust me, it pained me the entire time.
I still have an AI jersey from his days in Philly. I think I got it back in 98. He was very fun to watch when he was younger.
Sounds like my joy of his leaving will be coming to a screeching halt. As noted in the Philly forum, the 76ers might be offering him a deal. Boo.
