For the first time since I can remember, I have been disappointed in Joel's play of late. He just doesnt seem like his normal self.
Is that it???? We're expecting more than that. Give us the dirt. What does he say about Nate? Blake? I'm sure part of the reason for our miserable performance can also be attributed to Outlaw - not to mention Sheed, Damon, Zbo and Jack! [/Sarcasm] Gramps...
I think Roy is part of the problem actually. He's playing terrible defense, and he's playing like Zach Randolph on offense. Just pounding the ball into triple teams, trying to score 1 on 3. As we've been saying for years, we need to get a real offense.
I think that comes with a real coach. I'm beginning to think that Nate's statement about only having one-year contracts was so that perhaps, he might hold on to his job through the end of the year with KP & co knowing that he is an expiring contract and they'll just let him walk. Yes, some of the blame has to be put on the players but Nate's ability to coach a quality team is coming more and more into question (I know, many have been saying it for quite some time but he is being exposed to a greater degree). Gramps...
Ha! I might be blaming Roy just a little bit, since he's been so pig-headed about how well he "meshes" with Steve.
Also with a game in Utah tomorrow the Blazers probably only have 12min to make this a 10pt game or less.
K. He broke down our offense, and our defense. He says what he would do is start Miller, Roy, Rudy, Aldridge and Oden, and play all of them until they fell over. He says there are 3 teams that play like college teams do, and Portland is one of them. (I asked, he was talking about 2 units) He says it's effective, but only in the regular season. It has been proven to be a poor strategy over the years I guess? Bayless is the only PG on the team that can stay in front of anyone, but he will never get any whistles until the refs see him play more. He said Batum got a lot of whistles early last year, but then the refs got used to him, and they didn't call him for as many touch fouls. Oden should get the ball on every play. He thinks it should be him the the offense runs through because of his passing ability. He doesn't understand why we don't run more. He says we have the perfect players on our roster to run. He thinks the Mike's are funny, but said it's obvious who pays their salary because they are shills for the coaching staff.
How odd would it be for there to be only two times in the NBA that a team has been doubled up, both times being the Blazers.
