With the schedule we have had... to be 12- 7 really is a let down IMO. The likely hood we will get blown out vs Utah puts us at a 12-7 mark. What happens when we play really good teams like the SUns, Lakers, Mavs? I mean its getting a bit scary. We dont score for long stretches, our defense is on and off, and Roy is awful this year.

Last year did we have 3 home losses before xmas? I mean what has happened to this team? The Kings blew out the nets tonight, we were tied midway through the 3rd!

This quote sums up this over rated Blazer team.

"I've said this a few times this year, and I didn't have to say this (but) maybe once last year: Our effort is not where it needs to be to win games," McMillan said. "We've been able to win some games, but our effort, hunger and attitude are not where it needs to be for us to really win big. And I don't get that."

Hmmm he said this numerous times... yet we are in November and he only said THIS ONCE last year?
I think thats all we need to know about how bad this team has been this year. And dont give me the 12-6 shit.... cause thats what it is... shit. All those wins are vs FUCKING AWFUL TEAMS.

I believe the stat is the Blazers had 18 wins last year after trailing by double-digits. I think McMillan just has a bad memory.

yah well... we havent come back once this year. And we already have 3 home losses. Thats disturbing. Not to mention that top 4 seed is slipping away.

Absolutely. Portland's spot in the "opening month playoffs" is in jeopardy.

And to answer your question this team had 3 losses at home last year after the Mavs beat the Blazers on Christmas.

Turk's miracle 3 I think and the game Blake choked away to the Clippers.

The Blazers only have 3 home games before Christmas so they could easily match last years start at home. And if they;re only a game off, no big deal.

I also think the Blazers will have a better road record this year.

Theres still 63 more games left if we do lose to Utah. Lets jump ship and trade 4 or 5 players! This sounds like the typical Mixum bitching already.

Here are the probabilities of winning the division, and of winning 1st through 3rd seeds, before tonight's game vs. after it. The probabilities still add up to over 50% that we'll be in the 1st 3 seeds.

    Div...1S...2S...3S...before or after
    52.7 20.1 19.5 17.6 after
    61.1 34.4 22.0 15.9 before

The start so far hasn't been exactly what I expected, or hoped, it to be but its not that bad. McMillan doesn't seem to want to adapt to certain situations, or is just to stubborn to adapt to them, like when a big run is being made by the other team. A lot of the time our offence is seem stagnant and passing way to much just to fight the shot clock. Our defense seems the same way sometimes, we just don't want or know how to put the effort in.
I'm seeing some great things from the blazers this year. But for every great quarter we have, we also seem to have one were we can't defend and have no clue what we want to do on offence.

In Roys rookie season in 2006-2007 we had 7 home losses before xmas.
We had 3 home losses in the 2007-08 by xmas.
We had 3 home losses in the 2008-09 season by xmas day (Dallas).
Is 3 home losses that much of an issue of a teams failure by xmas time? I see the expectations with your concern when theres over 60 games left to be played.

Would you rather have this be "The sky is falling!!!!" forum?

You say this shit every year, and you were absolutely destroyed last year, so noone is going to take you seriously. You were "worried" last year and said we wouldn't make the playoffs.

If we would have won last night, chances are you wouldn't even have been here.

last year we werent beat down by a team that doesnt play defense.

we had 17 points with 6:32 left in the 2nd vs the fucking grizzlies.

yah im upsetr. thats concerning even for the biggest homers. let me ask you... can you see us even competing vs good offensive teams? we got killed by the grizz and warriors. very similiar teams. red flag???????

    MIXUM,

What i'm saying is you say the same thing every year. Whether you have a valid point or not is irrelevant to me, because nobody can take you seriously.

And to answer your question, i'm absolutely not worried. We are 12-6. We will be fine. The sky isn't falling.

It would be. But it's still just good enough for changes NOT to happen.

Which kind of pisses me off.

I actually agree with Rizzle ... to a point. Mixum's chief complaint seems to be with this team's penchant for shaky play. Last year it was having to come back from double digits 18 times, this year's it's a less than inspired start to the season. I don't necessarily share his gloomy outlook or see quite as much doom as he does, but I almost never feel like he's being a doom-sayer just to rile people up.

There are actually some valid complaints about this team and it will be very interesting to see if they get through December with a winning record for the month -- I put it at about a fifty-fifty proposition at this point.

He said the team would miss the playoffs if they didn't make a trade at the deadline last year. The Blazers finished 4th and were co-champions of the NW division. He's already pretty much said the same thing about this year. I'm sure he'll be wrong again. He also makes predictions on a game to game basis and is often wrong.

Now when talking about criticisms of the team, he doesn't say anything that no other poster says. Just read the PBP. Filled with criticisms.
