FS Eric Weddle (knee) will not play at Cleveland, allowing C.J. Spillman to play safety for the first time in an NFL game, Norv Turner said. The undrafted free agent from Marshall has played well on special teams.

Norv Turner said that veteran RT Jon Runyan, signed last week after Jeromey Clary's season-ending injury, is close to being ready to play but probably will not start at Cleveland on Sunday.

Like every other Browns opponent, the Chargers are obsessed with stopping Josh Cribbs, a return specialist and running back. "I've seen more of Cribbs than I'd like to," Norv Turner said. The Bengals kicked away from Cribbs. Turner said the Chargers will prepare to defend Cribbs in the wildcat formation.

DE Luis Castillo, who missed Sunday's game because of a calf strain, worked out today and "has a chance" to face the Browns on Sunday, Norv Turner said -- but Turner said he'd like to see more of rookie Vaughn Martin, who played 10 snaps against Kansas City.
