    I'd probably agree. Kobe reads what the defense is doing better than most any player in the NBA and always adjusts his game accordingly. However, I would say Kidd is a very close 2nd.

    I'm a little surprised that Shane Battier's name wasn't mentioned on this list, while Carmelo Anthony was.

    It seems more like a "best offensive players" list.

    It isn't like Battier pretty much knows every team's playbook to improve his efficiency defensively.

    Or makes defensive judgements primarily on reducing the opposing team's FG% (as simple as it sounds, what happens more often than not, players often think more about just the guy they are guarding)
