Re: Pistons Draft '06 well in this years draft, we will be getting the 30th pick (going to portland via Utah)and the 60th (our pick)we wont have that good of a draft but im sure that we will be okay. lol
Re: Pistons Draft '06 yeah i am sure we will do alright next season, regardless of the draft...lol....but remember next year we get a first round pick courtesy of orlando....dont forget we now have a team that free agents want to sign with....not like years gone by
Re: Pistons Draft '06 Joe D always finds hidden gems in the late rounds, we could end up being a suprise in this years draft.
Re: Pistons Draft '06 always a distinct possibility...although with the 60th pick i hardly doubt that is going to happen in this years dilluted draft...but you never know
Re: Pistons Draft '06 it really doesnt matter...we are going to be fine... Cato along with Acker may leave and Hunter and Davis may retire, but FA's do want to come here and Joe D is the GM of the new Millenium so...yeah, were fine
Re: Pistons Draft '06 You can't just say we're fine. No team is perfect. Say an injury to Billups goes down. Delk is a free agent after this year. We are going to need a player like Guillermo Diaz, if Lindsey Hunter doesn't stay. Don't you dare say we are fine. We don't have a ton of money to spend either. Money doesn't grow on trees, and there is a cap.
Re: Pistons Draft '06 Hello? Joe Dumars? best GM! he will work it out if Lindsey retires and it is unlikely that Chauncey will get hurt-but possible...but Knowing how good Joe D is at what he does, he will work it out...he always does...and dont talk to me like your my mother using phrases like 'dont you dare' please, i can say what i want, how i want, and when i want...and we do have money-even though, good veteran players will come to Detroit to get a ring for less money! did you forget about that! were not going to pick up any big money players anyways-we really dont have any right now. WE WILL be FINE! lol
Re: Pistons Draft '06 Hehehehe :nasty: Joe Dumars may be the best, but he isn't a fricken mind reader. He can't tell who will be good and who will rot in Detroit. Billups could get hurt, it hasn't happened yet in Motown, but he has a injury past. You're acting like Joe Dumars is God, and thats a horrible comparison. Dumars is great, but once again, he isn't a mind reader, and he isn't perfect. Why can't I say don't you dare? I say what I want. I'm the mod here. Your jobless. You can't say what you want. Hahaha this is pretty funny. You crack me up sometimes Nick. But they won't come here dirt cheap. They still want money. That's why the draft counts. Ok, this season, yes, and the next season, of course, but wait until the team gets older and slower. The fountain of youth hasn't hit Detroit, and I'm sure it won't any time soon. Ben and Sheed are in/past their prime. The starters play a ton. Legs wear down. That's also why the draft is important. We need to stay fresh and young.Anything else Nick? :winkglasses:
Re: Pistons Draft '06 can't go wrong with Sean Dockery. He is a tenacious defender and a pretty good passer. They should make him Mr. Irrelevant of the nba.
Re: Pistons Draft '06 What is up with the fighting? Lets nip that in the butt right now. We all have opur opinions and I understand both sides but don't fight.
Re: Pistons Draft '06 exactly pf11..no need to fight, but do realize alot of teams build through the draft...however, this team we are looking at right now wasnt built through any drafting by the pistons other than tayshaun...with that in mind Joe D has been a mastermind at bringing in the right free agents, and making the right trades....so just slow down sunny d and watch how Joe Dumars operates, i am sure there are contigency plans if someone goes down...and for the longterm future

But, not everything will go right. This isn't a perfect life. Dumars is good at talking people into coming to Detroit, but the league is more diluted than it was five years ago. We want to make our team younger also- plan for the future. We can't be on the edge every year, with only Tayshaun, J-Max, and maybe Amir as our hope for the future. That's why the draft counts. Second round picks can turn good. Look at players like Salim Stoudamire, Rashard Lewis, and Micheal Redd.I don't call it fighting in my case, I call it "debating."
Re: Pistons Draft '06 I would guess that Delk will resign. I think there are gonna be a lot of hidden talents in this draft, it seems to weak to be true. Also just a side note, it's nip it in the bud, not butt.
Re: Pistons Draft '06 i would have to debate that the league is not as dilluted as it was five years ago...a dillution would be all teams are on par or close to each other...however this year as with the past couple, we have seen the rise of some real powerhouse in both the east and west, which in turn has lent itself, to creating some good rivalries. True enough there are a handful of teams that were incredibly weak this season...but what you are seeing isnt a dillutin but rather a balancing of the power between the confrences, where as 5 years ago all the power was in the west
Re: Pistons Draft '06 thats right, me and sunnyd dont fight we debate and we like to do it...but that whole 'jobless' piece was a shot under the beltbuckle...lolbecause i have been one of the guys that have been devoted just to the pistons and most of the time deserving of a mod spot but enough of that.Joe D is just great at what he does.....and i dont think that we'll sign any players for dirt cheap-im sure we got money..if YOU want to check our cap size....
Re: Pistons Draft '06 Pistons salary cap is $51,700,000, the NBA Salary Cap is 49.5 Million dollars. But we also have the mid level exception. What I am trying to say is that the draft will matter. We need to get younger. That's all I am trying to say.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>because i have been one of the guys that have been devoted just to the pistons and most of the time deserving of a mod spot but enough of that.</div>I agree that you have been devoted just to the Pistons, but I don't see you around here often enough in order to deserve a mod spot. We are growing, and there could be more deserving people.
Re: Pistons Draft '06 yeah, these last couple of weeks i have not been active...but i'm backand I know that the draft matters, it always does. look at amir, acker. theyre second round picks and they are turning out to be pretty good. and for getting younger, i agree. we arent young and we should get a couple younger guys, but the thing is that we are experienced. but i like the idea of getting younger but...getting rid of Davis and Cato and picking up a guy in the draft, re-signing Ben Wallace to a 3 or 4-year deal , Delk to a 1 or 2 year dealand re-sign either Acker or Johnson or both....we'll worry about this in the offseason!
Re: Pistons Draft '06 if you wanna go young, develope the guys we have right now...maxiell, delfino, johnson, acker...but the off season, we should be looking for some veteran help..i am positive lindsey will call it quits, and delk is iffy...anyone got a list of upcoming free agents this summer
