Shane Battier would be PERFECT. He'd make us championship contenders THIS SEASON IMO.

D Fish is a solid on ball defender. That is one of his best attributes as a player. That and clutch shooting.

yes, that explains why the L*kers always get torched by opposing point guards.

Hedo would have been our glue guy.

If Blake was not already on our team or Jack was not a former Blazer, both would be considered ideal glue guys.

Steve Blake is our Derek Fisher but everyone hates him for some reason.

Can you guess which one is Blake or Fisher without looking it up?

Think we already have our Fisher in Blake. The question is can we incorporate Oden like the Lakers have Bynum into the offense? Can LA be as consistent offensively as Gasol while finding open teammates? Who is going to be our Odom or Artest? Are we going to find a role for our young players like Phil has found for his?

well, except Blake airballs 3's in the playoffs while Fisher makes them in the clutch.

Fisher is the locker room leader of the Lakers and is the one guy who can reign in on Kobe if need be. His defense isn't what it used to be, but he's willing to sacrifice his body by taking charges. He completely changed the Houston Rockets series last year by laying out Luis Scola to send a message to his teammates about playing more physical. He's still clutch in big games and Kobe trusts him to make those 3's when players cheat over to double.

EXACTLY! How hard is this to get, people? I'm not talking about his defense or whether or not he's a great PG. AS I'VE SAID REPEATEDLY. I'm talking about his ROLE IN THE LOCKER ROOM.

Another suggestion: Lindsey Hunter. Another guy whom everyone picks as a future coach.

Pluses: he actually CAN still play some D.
Minuses: not exactly a giant of the game. (Neither is Fisher, but he did have 3 rings when he came back to the Lakers.)

Steve Blake is not our Derek Fisher. Fisher bowling over Scola in the playoffs last season. Not saying it was the best move ever, but it's something Blake would never do. There's a difference between being a "vet" that people clamor for, and having experience in the league. Fisher is a vet. Blake just has yers of experience in the league.

I agree! Which is why the Rockets will never give him up.

But if they would, I'd give up a fair amount to get him...

Somebody hypnotize their GM and get him to trade us Kyle Lowry AND Shane Battier. I'd be prepared to give up Webster and Miller...

Rockets aren't going anywhere, they do need some help still...but mainly bigs and we don't have any available really. we'd prob. have to give up Pryz and then that just opens up another problem in the Backup C department.

My ideal off season this past offseason was signing McDyess and Hill. And then an older vet PG. I thought that would have given us a great mix of teachers for our young guys.
