I mean hes gotta be at least starting to think he has 2 choices. Either make a trade or just let the season be a lost one by standing pat. Obviously knowing KP... you would bet he stays pat. However with Paul Allens health, selout streak, and fans expectations.... i wonder how quick he would do a deal. Caron Butler seems like a guy to target but thats really not the point of this thread.... its more if KP reacts... how soon and what will be the low point. Us under 500 or
losing 4-5 at home in a row? Maybe we will fall so far that a trade wouldnt help us fix this season. My point is, is making the playoffs a priority? This current group will not IMO. Infact i emailed Dwight Jyanes for his thoughts and his reply was " it will be a dogfight to make the post season.... its not gonna be an easy fix.

So how much time will KP give them before he either makes a move or throws in the towel on the season. I mean cant fall to far behind or it will be over by xmas. My god its astounding to me that this team taht won 54 fucking games could miss the playoffs. That would be the biggest disgrace we've had since the jaILblazers days.

At this point betting on KP to do something seems like a losing wager. Sure there are some signs that it's time to start cashiering some of these youngsters and attempting to get some quality players who fit better (ie. fewer softie, all-offense, no-defense guards and wings and more hustle guys who play solid D and can hit an open jumper off the catch and shoot) but with KP's track record on mid-season trades I won't hold my breath.

I'm so 'meh' about KP that I somehow get the feeling all he's saying to himself is 'calm waters' over and over, as if that will somehow magically make everything all better.
    :sigh:

I must have seen too many Blazer home games. WHen I read the title of this, I thought about that cheesy fan entertainment thing they would run on the big screen where they would have some dude doing a cheesy dance with one of the Blazers heads photoshopped onto his body. I had tried to seal that out of my mind, but alas, it is present again!

Pritchard is an untalented trader, and will do nothing. For the solution,

KP, is chicken and won't do any trades mid-season unless Paul Allen bugs him to do so.

A dogg picturing a duck calls him a chicken. I agree that Pritchard has great reluctance to do anything, ever. He feels inadequate to the tasks of his job. (A nicer way of saying the same thing.)

I don't think Allen gets involved like that. He is just the outfit's wallet.

I believe that Allen is much more than the club's wallet. His draft day (war room) involvement in previous years has shown us as much.

His attendance at games - even while ill, shows us as much.

I'm guessing that the team roster is an on-going discussion.

I'm going to guess that a trade happens pre-Christmas! Furthermore, the players that could be involved could be: in this order

Miller or Blake [and I'll lean towards it being Miller]

    Pryzbilla [expiring contract]

    Webster

    Rudy

    Cunningham

    Bayless

    Aldridge (yes, I said it!)

I don't see how we can trade our injured players, so this rules out Outlaw (unfortunately) or Batum.
    ----------------------

Miller, Pryzbilla and Webster to Washington for Butler, Jaimison and JaVale McGee

If Aldridge is involved, it would have to be for someone like Bosh (if Bosh is interested in a Sign and trade scenario).

Allen is very interested in the team, beyond just financially, but I think he totally relies upon advice from those he hires. He doesn't make decisions--he reviews and almost always approves them.

With no rumors at all, a nontrader like Pritchard will make a trade in the next 3 weeks? I wouldn't believe it even if there WERE rumors. The guy is a total dufus. McMillan is a hard coach to build a roster for, but Pritchard hasn't even tried. He should be in marketing, spending his time with reporters.

Whenever someone brings up this topic the obvious answer that comes to mind is that it takes two to tango. I'm sure KP could pull off a trade right now if he wanted. But could he pull off a good trade? Probably not.

It's much easier if you think about it as TOEC. It's about the exact situation as RLEC last year, except that Travis is a) cheaper, b) still useful, and c) will actually play again.

And in that WAS trade, I think I'd do it. We get the three best players.

WAS might balk a bit, though. Assuming that it worked talent-wise, you plan on them moving Agent Zero to the wing to cover Butler's minutes?

What's a good trade? I mean example of one you would think is realistic. Nothing like LJ for Roy and Aldridge. That won't happen.

I'll tell you where KP's head *should* be at: PA (bless him) is very sick, and probably dying. When that happens, the Blazers cease to be a relevant NBA franchise.

Win now KP, or go feed yourself to a wood-chipper. There is no tomorrow. Sack-up and deal with it.

70% Paul Allen makes it through the next 2 years, 50% the next 5 years. All Pritchard trades were greased with Allen's largesse. He lacks the talent to make any without Paul Allen. Pritchard may understand this and retire if Allen dies.
