If the Raptors don't improve soon, you've got to think Bosh will split this Summer. If that's obvious, will the Raptors try to trade him before the deadline? They could take a risk on a sign-and-trade, but stars tend not to want the team they're going to to give up too much (didn't Kobe knix a trade to Chicago because they would've given up Deng?)

I used to think that I wouldn't give up Aldridge to get Bosh. But that was last year's Aldridge and last year's Bosh. But would the fact that LaMarcus has signed an extension, but it hasn't kicked in yet make a trade difficult?

Aldridge is BYC this year, so it's basically impossible. Bosh is a FA next year anyways, don't know why you would want him.

Also, why would Toronto want Aldridge?

Dunno if that's much of an improvement for Portland.

If he gets dealt they won't want a PF back because they'll just slot Bargnani into his place.

Two big holes right now are C and SG so some combination of that is probably what BC would be seeking. I suggested Butler/Haywood as a kind of prototype deal.

Because you would have his Bird rights and a team that could contend.

What better young player would they be offered for Bosh? Supposedly Bosh would sign with Miami, New York or New Jersey. Who've they got to offer?

I'm surprised to hear that from anyone but a rabid Blazers' fan.

Um - did you know that the "P" in PF stands for "Power"?

I was thinking that we'd have to offer Rudy as well. You could start Aldridge and the tall Italian at the two bigs and with Rudy you'd have an even more "cosmopolitan" team (just so Hedo feels at home).

You could offer more, but would he want to stay here? The dollar amounts wouldn't be that off.
Aldridge is signed to a 65 million dollar extension, given that a Bargnani/Bosh frontcourt has not worked, what makes you think a Bargnani/Aldridge frontcourt will? They don't need a player like Aldridge and are better off 1.) Trying to get a defensive player for Bosh or 2.) Not signing anyone.

Ok but the Raps have him playing centre right now which is not working out well. Call him a 4 instead if you prefer.

Punani has to be the worst rebounding big of all time.

    And I'm not even joking.

I'd think something like Joel + Rudy + something would fill more of their needs, but that I don't think we have that "something" that makes up both the salary and talent. Blake and Webster fit $$-wise, but :dunno:

LaMarcus = poison pill provision this year and BYC next year = No way to trade for Bosh without involving a third party + Bosh way better than LaMarcus <> trade for Bosh.

I always call him that too, that is awesome :ghoti:

They should trade Bosh for a real center....Not Aldridge, maybe Joel and somebody else

na but seriously, they need a center.

Nik you should just have it saved somewhere so you can copy paste every time someone proposes a trade involving LMA or Roy.

LMA = poison pill provision so he's virtually untradable this year.
Roy = poison pill provision so he's virtually untradeable this year.

Save that and you're good to go :)

bosh is not signing an extension. it would cost him tens of millions over what he could get as a 7 year vet FA. any sign/trade would have to be next summer.

According to the Trade Machine, this trade works:

    Bosh + Reggie Evans for
    Aldridge, Rudy, Joel and Travis

Not saying that's the best trade, but it does work.

Well, that would certainly nix the trade IF NOT FOR THE FACT THAT BOSH IS GOING TO LEAVE THE RAPTORS. His being "way better than" LaMarcus isn't going to help the Raptors if he's playing for some other team.
