It was really funny last night when channel 6 and channel 8 couldn't get the date right for the last time the ducks went to the rose bowl. One said, 1994 and the other said 1995.

Interesting post by the Contra Costa times in California.

I hope the Beavers play in the Las Vegas Bowl and not the Poinsettia Bowl. Las Vegas Bowl has a bigger coverage and payout?

Well it was the 1994 (-1995) season. But it was officially (by 1 day I think) in 1995. So both are somewhat right.

slump? Did you see the Ducks truck Oklahoma St last year?

oh, and I've seen a whole lot more Duck bashing then Beaver bashing on this board prior to this game and little to none since, so take a look in the mirror when you chastise their fanbase on this. Geez for fun I read through the O's recaps of the games and the comments were loaded with bitter Beaver fans still talking BS. There were claims of paid off officials, Blount should be in jail, ESPN bias, "real Oregonians"... basically every form of :smiley-bigcry:

Here's to the victors and taking care of business Jan 1st :smiley-thankyou:

Off topic, I think that Oregon is the 3rd best college football state this year!

    1. Texas (Tex and TCU and Houston)
    2. Ohio (OSU and Cinci)
    3. Oregon (UO and OSU)
    4. Florida (Florida and Miami)
    5. Pennsylvania (Penn St. and Pitt)
    6. California (USC and Cal and Stanford)
    7. Utah (BYU and Utah)
    8. Oklahoma (Oklahoma State and Oklahoma)

I'm just listing the main 2 or more teams in the state. Oklahoma isn't very good this year either, which is the reason they are 8.

Very entertaining game last night. I can't see Ohio State having any chance in the Rose Bowl.

I wonder of GO shows up for the game wearing his Blazer colors (red, black and silver)?

Well, that isn't a very sophisticated fan base you are drawing from there. O fan comments?? LoL... I am guessing if the outcome was different you would hear some pretty bitter Duck fans if you looked there too. I know a lot of fans I talk to are upset, etc. I tend to not get too caught up in that kind of stuff. It's time to move on.

My thoughts on the officiating were that it was actually pretty fair. I do think were a few more missed/blown calls that hurt Oregon State over Oregon, but nothing that was atrocious. I thought the roughing the passer call on the ducks was one that should have gone uncalled. There was one potential missed call on a tackle out of bounds that I think ESPN announcers mentioned that the Ducks may have gotten away with. I saw one clear block in the back in the 4th quarter after Masoli completed a pass and an OSU defender was in position to make the tackle but another receiver pushed him in the back. And I saw numerous false start calls against the Beavers that I couldn't see a false start. I am not saying there wasn't one, I just didn't see it. Bottom line, it was not a perfectly called game, but it was fairly balanced. Beavers had their opportunities and just came up short. Fans will always complain about officiating, but this was not the reason that the Ducks won. The Ducks WERE the better team that night and the Beavers played very well, but just came up a little short.

With regards to Blount -- I know several Beaver fans who are pissed off that Blount played. The only thing that was kind of tacky from my perspective is that his first play came after an injured Tim Clark was carted off the field. Althought it obviously was not the intent, it felt a little like CK trying to rub it in a bit. It was only a passing thought in my mind, and I have no problem with Blount playing. It almost ended up being a very bad decision for CK. After two runs (and 9 points down with momentum on the Beaver side) Blount had put Oregon in a third and long situation. If Oregon State stops them that could have cost the Ducks the game. As it turns out, that third down was a real key to the Ducks win.

Anyway that is my $.02. There is still a bowl game to play and then next season. Hopefully next year's CW is just as good as this years (except the Beavers win of course!! :))

of course you selectively edited my comments as I also referenced the sophisticated trash talking from Beavs fans here that mimics the O's fan comments. I've read the same clever nicknames (like Ucks and Dicksinass) here as there. We've been treated to mocking threads when the Ducks lost and had pictures of injured Ducks posted with LOL!!! as the commentary. Both pre and post civil war, this sort of stuff was almost completely one sided coming from Beavers fans towards the Ducks. I was responding to someone who was complaining about just the opposite potentially happening because of last night's win.
good luck with that. Oregon doesn't lose many key Seniors this year returning Masoli and almost all of their offensive and defensive lines. The biggest names they'll lose are Blount, Thurman, Tukuafu, Dickson, & TJ Ward. If they stay as healthy next year as this they project to be every bit as good. But to be sure, the ball has bounced Oregon's way more times then not this year... things could have turned out differently last night and throughout the season.

You can reference all the trash talking from Beaver fans (and ignore all the Duck fans that do the same) here but nothing compares to Soda's constant trash talking against the Beavers in any imaginable way he can regardless if it relates to the topic at hand or not. How convenient of you to leave that out.

There's nothing I can type that hasn't already been said, so I'll just leave it at this: amazing game, and I give a lot of credit to the Beavs: you have an outstanding football team.

Also on a silly side note, I truly think the lady that could be heard screaming throughout last year's Civil War (best example is JJ's 83 yard TD run) was just a few seats away from me at Autzen!! :biglaugh: If it wasn't her, then it was someone that sounded EXACTLY like her...she even let out a similar sounding "Noooo!!!!" when LaMichael James broke loose for that huge TD run. Then immediately after that TD, her and her friend left and didn't return. Pretty odd because despite the big play, the game was FAR from over.

Well if you are holier than thou, good for you. I personally have not seen anything this year that went over the line. BB's post wasn't mean spirited, and if it pissed you off, well, you need to grow some thicker skin. Soda Pop's relentless bashing last year certainly was enough for 2 years of bashing from the Ducks side... :D And, hey, this isn't the only medium out there. Just listen to sports talk, etc., and you will find a lot of arrogant duck fans. If Beaver fans feel the need to respond in kind when the Ducks shit the bed, then I can kind of understand that. I think I posted some stuff in the Boise State thread.... but it wasn't about the game and I don't think it was mean spirited. The Blount incident, in case you didn't notice, was a national story and a huge black eye for the university. You can't tell me that anything like that compares to any of the Beaver losses. Had Duck fans had the opportunity to respond to something like that I can tell you that the bashing would have been WAY worse. As for the Stanford loss, honestly I didn't even read any of those threads. What I do remember, is during the Arizona thread a lot of Beaver fans rooting for you guys to set up this CW. :dunno: I guess it isn't enough for you to just enjoy the win. That's okay. Some people have to feel like they are superior to other fan bases. ;) I enjoy some good natured ribbing, smack talk, etc., but if I ever say anything that you think is over the line, let me know.

What I have seen over the last 9 to 10 years, and particularly last night, is Oregon State able to hold their own against the Ducks despite the fact that the Ducks recruit superior players, have more luxurious facilities, etc... It doesn't matter who we lose, barring injury, the Beavers always are playing their best at the end of the season. You can get used to that continuing. Good luck in the Rose Bowl, you do not know when you get your next opportunity.

After killing my body in pickup hoops today I've mostly taken it easy putzing around the house. With your comment I reread every thread regarding the Ducks and Beavers during this last season. Maybe I missed one or two, but I doubt it. What trash talk fans here did this season was done either in the joke thread just prior to the CW or overwhelmingly by Beavers fans. I welcome anyone to try to prove it otherwise.

It was rare to even see a Duck fan participate in a Beaver's game day thread let alone start a Beavers LOL!!! thread when they lost. There has been pretty much zero trashing of the Beavers here all season. Conversely the Go Broncos!/Boilers!/Utes!/etc... jabs made regular appearances in Duck game threads. Several Beavers fans stated that the Boise State game couldn't have been sweeter. Though it wasn't convenient for me to do so, I kept an eye out for that terrible SodaPop's bad words but he posted almost exclusively about the Ducks.

here's a couple of bookend threads from this season filled with the stuff I'm referencing... can you link anything from the past season that compares?

    http://www.sportstwo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=146477
    http://www.sportstwo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=149168

I've read several posts where you're complaining about poor behavior by Duck fans in this forum, and then I've also read you participating in that very behavior... how many times can you bitch about the Ducks uniforms as if we give a crap? Again, I was recapping where the vast majority of trash talk has come from in response to a Beaver fan who expressed concerns that the Duck fans here might start someday start dishing out the same shit. It's fine that some OSU fans here have a burr up their backside about anything UO (Duck fans are much the same about UW) but complaining about smack talk from posters here when what is actually taking place is just the opposite begs a response.

reading comprehension sure is lacking here. Again, I don't care about trash talking... really I don't. But the fact is Duck fans haven't been engaging in it. Complaining about what hasn't been going on as if it has is stupid especially so if your side has been doing it. How is that so hard to grasp?
posts #126, 128 & 133 in that very thread... again, why is this so difficult?
nice strawman. I never said there wasn't some positivity and Beer Boy is consistently a class guy or clearly joking. What I've repeatedly stated is what inter-fan trash talking that has gone on here has come from from Beavs dishing it to Ducks.
ahhh we're getting somewhere... apparently you don't know what trash talking is. It isn't a fan talking bad about their own rooting interest, it's a fan talking bad about their rival. LOL @ Ducks is thread started by a Beaver fan to do just that. Can you or anyone produce anything comparable thread going the other way from this season?
good grief. Respond to what I actually wrote not the fantasies in your head

My point is you've brought this up before like when I made a comment that included the nickname the ucks.. if you don't care why do you continually bring it up as an issue? Why do you even respond to Nate if it isn't an issue?

You're telling me you've never seen a gay sheep joke here or the infamous score from last season posted on S2? What a joke...

Luckily most duck fans like Wheels or BP are good natured and can have a good conversation, like most Beaver fans. But don't let that intrude on your own little fantasy world.
