Get well soon young fella. As a Laker fan, I understand the emotions Blazer fans are going through right now.

This makes me think of all those Bynum injuries...

I hope luck will be by his side this year.

Really sucks for the Blazers. As much as I don't want that team to win, having young guys like Oden in the league healthy and playing well is good for basketball.

Sucks for Oden and the Blazers organization. He'll probably never the be same after he comes back.

He's done for the year, it's a fractured left knee cap. The kid definitely won't be the same when he returns.

I want to hear Portland fans defend him as not being injury prone now.

Sooo...this leads me to wonder - will all the Portland fans still take Oden over Durant again? They kept saying they would because Durant isn't a franchise changing player, that he's just your normal, dime a dozen, run of the mill, scoring wing player, and Oden is a franchise changing guy.

Well...after this injury, he's going to end up missing 165 of 246 possible games in his first 3 seasons (assuming he misses the rest of the year like he's projected to). The only thing franchise changing about that is the fact that, thus far, it's looked like a waste of a pick (even when he's on the court, he hasn't looked great). Durant, on the other hand, has OKC moving on up in the NBA and that team might be ready for a playoff run this year.

Despite this...I'm sure there'd be a large amount of Blazer fans who are still delusional enough to take Oden over Durant, despite the fact that he's suffered what, 3 or 4 (?) major injuries since his freshman year at OSU.

    I wouldn't consider a broken wrist a major injury?

I mean, yeah the kid is injury prone, but, he should be able to recover from this 100%. What is going to fuck with Oden here is the mental aspect. He was finally starting to put shit together and become part of that offense and he just started getting his opportunities...and boom, this happens. He should have no problems recovering physically here, its mentally that will be the challenge.

If you think about it he's had two major injuries...so has Drew.

The difference between Drew's injuries and Oden's is that Oden's two injuries have just happened out of the blue. How did he get injured his rookie season again? And last night's injury occurred when he just jumped up. It just seems like his body is fragile, he had injury problems his one year in college too. In Drew's case, he was injured because his leg got tangled up with Lamar's, and because Kobe dove head first into his legs. Oden's injuries occurred with nobody around him. He is injury prone plain and simple. When he returns next year, he better be wearing ankle braces on both legs. He needs to take every precaution possible not to get hurt again.

It was actually ligament damage in his wrist, which I'd consider pretty major. He then injured his foot as a rookie and missed a couple weeks, then injured his knee and missed 3 weeks. Those two I wouldn't necessarily consider "major" injuries I guess, but he still missed a good chunk of time because of them. Then obviously the microfracture surgery and now fractured patella...both obviously major. I dunno...I think he's had 3 major injuries, because damaged ligaments in your right wrist isn't exactly a walk in the park.

The ankle injury and knee injury, IMO aren't really injuries I would say are his fault. Those two injuries are something that ANY NBA player has a chance of happening to them, and that was just bad luck. One thing I don't understand is after that knee injury with the chip in his knee he wore a Knee brace, why did they not make him wear braces on his knees for the rest of his career??

Well, I don't really know if any of the injuries were his fault (maybe the wrist, since that occurred off the court..don't even know how really). And I really don't know how much a brace was going to help him since there was no ligament damage in any of his knee injuries. I suppose he still could have done it as precautionary measure, but would they have really helped? And if they would have...well...that's just a poor job by your teams medical staff.

    This says it all:

    Godzilla
    Aldridge
    Durant
    Roy
    Miller

Portland sabotaged a trade the Rockets had with Atlanta to acquire Roy. They snatched Roy and he has hit 2 game winners on Houston since. I can sleep better at night knowing they missed out on Durant and Jordan.

Moo you kinda lost me here. Oden had a higher per than bynum or Dwight plus better defense so saying he wasn't playing well.... wrong.

And lol at people saying he will never be the same, doctors say pretty much 100% by next camp. I agree there's always a chance of something bad happening, something bad could happen to anyone...

I feel really bad for Oden and his fans. He was just starting to breakout with the 20 rebound effort and a lot more fluid movement on the court. He was getting his timing down on shot blocks and learning to play more effectively away from the basket. This has to be devastating for him mentally. He said he felt he was letting his teammates down even though it's not his fault he was involved in another freak injury.

At least Oden is still young enough to overcome these injuries. Michael Jordan broke his leg once.
