Wow, are you serious? What if we won the championship? Would that merely be not as exciting because Greg didn't play? Greg hasn't proven ANYTHING in this league. He's not this known quantity that we can't win without. He's a very young player who wasn't even averaging a double double. Joel can rebound and play defense and Roy will play better without Oden, sad but true. We absolutely have enough talent to grab the 4th seed again and this time, we'll have the experience to win a round at the very least.
If we see the Brandon of old, like we did at the end of tonight's game, this team is still worth rooting for. No one will be talking about us anymore as the up and coming team, expectations will lower, and maybe that could be a good thing to fly under the radar a bit. I still think this team can make the playoffs. We just need to stay above water until Nicolas and Travis get back, and then anything can happen. Although Brandon has not played up to his capabilities, I'm still not betting against him considering what he's done the past 3 years. And he's going to get that control of the team back. We still have some very good players healthy, and hopefully Rudy can come back soon.
And my point is... what if we did? There seems to be a unit of Blazers fans who care about Oden more than even the team itself. A good statistical game for Oden is more important than a win. Conversely, a win in which Oden only shoots 4 times is considered a travesty. There is a unit of people who don't just want to see the Blazers win a title but want to see Oden win a title which is fair, but we can go on without him. It's not like Oden is an All Star or even CLOSE to being an All Star in this league.
And one more "FUCK YOU" to add to those already posted tonight. WTF is wrong with you man? Who the hell said anything about jumping ship? The guy that many of us thought held the key to our championship hopes just went down to a season ending injury - so most of the fanbase is in a state of shock. But come tomorrow morning, come the next game in NY, I'll still be watching and rooting for the rest of the guys. I'm rooting for Greg to get well now and get back in top shape for next year. So to your continual jumper bullshit, I got this for you: "FUCK" & "YOU"
Blazers have a better chance of winning the title than any of us do at winning PowerBall. Probably only 8 teams (tops) have a better chance of winning a title this season than we do.
Exactly. While everyone was crying about the loss of Oden (understandbly so), Roy was playing like an MVP. Expect more of such performances from Roy this season.
This post 100% misses the point. The reason people care about Oden is because of the long term impact they believe he could have on the success of the team... No Oden = less perceived opportunity for team success. It's seems clear to me...
Oden will STILL have long term impact on this team. He is only TWENTY ONE YEARS OLD! When he gets back, he'll have a good 14 years of good basketball in him.
But why do you just care about Oden's future?? Why are you focused on him only instead of being concerned with how the Blazers as a team do this season! It appears you are just a fan of Oden, not the Blazers as a whole. (see what I did there...tricky, eh?)
Yep. That's how I'm feeling right now, not for just this season, but for seasons to come. When we got the #1 pick in 2007, I was jumping for joy literally. Because I thought that drafting Oden to go along with Roy and Aldridge would undoubtedly be enough talent to one day win a championship, if not more. But now it looks like Oden is injury-prone and he cannot be relied on as a cornerstone of our team. Roy and Aldridge are still nice pieces, but without an Oden in there to be our defensive juggernaut and rebounding machine, I don't feel that a championship with this team is guaranteed, or even probable. If Pritchard can work his magic and maybe get some major steals in trades (ala Telfair for Roy), we can possibly get enough talent to surround Roy and Aldridge to build towards a championship. I will still root for this team, try to watch every game, and read every article, and I hope Oden can come back stronger than before. However, I will not pin my hopes on him anymore and as this team stands now with it's current players, I don't expect a championship this year or in the years to come.
You're just jealous! You never said we were done because of Oden, you said we were done a month ago when we lost to Denver.
