Even though it's a very unglamorous personnel transaction, one thing the Warriors have done really great at is finding talent from the D-League. Let's hope he turns out to be a productive player.
This guy did some work at the end of last year. He could turn out to be a pretty decent pick-up if he can translate some of that skill he showed in the D-League.
He was really impressive in his 14 mins against the Blazers. Didn't pick up any stupid fouls, has a nice soft shot, and got some nice rebounds due to good positioning and boxing out.
Not to mention Azu is out for the year... Hunter did really well last night. He got a big applause from the crowd.
I love what Geoff Lepper over at 48minutes.net wrote about him after the Indiana game: And he really does seem to be exactly what I was expecting Hendrix might be. Not flashy, but fundamentally sound and very solid down low.
Not sure how lenient the NBA injury exception is going to be, but he's pretty close to the end of the 2nd 10-day contract. The only way to really fit him in is to cut Devean George or trade away other contracts (Claxton/George/etc).
Four players need to be expected to miss the next three games. Bell, Azu, and Wright are likely done for the year and no doubt well over 3 games away from playing. Claxton probably easily qualifies as a fourth but we've also got injuries to Beans and Turiaf that could keep them out plus Randolph and Moore are playing injured. I hear Moore has bone chips in his heel so once Beans/Turiaf get back he may go have surgery anyway.
Can we bring this guy back? I'm so tired of Mikki Moore's role play. No wonder we play Maggette at center... It's not a mistake or lapse in judgement in terms of rebounding.
It makes no sense that Hunter isn't playing. He can get all those missed rebounds that Moore and Radmanovic lose and become second chance points for the opponent.
Sure it makes sense, everything Smart knows he learned from Nelson and it's exactly what Nelson would do. It makes as much sense as playing Mikki Moore consistently over Anthony Randolph.
No, let's just keep Hunter on the bench (a guy who won the Pacer game for us) and exploit that offensive mismatch with Maggette and Radmanovic. Yep. Great coaching. Leading rebounders in the game, Ellis and Watson.
