    Canzano's saying that he is:

But on December 2nd, Brian T. Smith "tweeted" this:

I don't know who to trust any more!

(Kidding! Like I'd believe anything Canzano says.)

I've been wondering the same thing. Have the Blazers said anything? I'd rather have an official statement from the team to go on.

The estimates on both Outlaw and Batum have changed since yesterday - if you compare what Canzano wrote today with what the "injury box" indicated yesterday. I've already recycled it, but IIRC, they were due back in the February/March timeframe.

It makes a huge difference if Outlaw and Batum will be back in time for the last couple of months or not.

I'll make a guess, Batum back on original time or a little early, Outlaw a best back as expected or not at all.

a five month recovery (which is average for torn labrum surgery) puts Batum right at or around a February return, Outlaws busted wheel is the recovery that is harder to pin down, since feet are extremely variable in the way they respond to injury; circulation is often poor, the bones you are dealing with are thin and delicate and they take the most pounding. I think it highly likely we'll see Batum come back around the all-star break, and I would say there's no way to predict when Travis is coming back -- it could be as soon as January or not at all.

As usual Canzano prefers hyperbole to facts, but what's new.

I wouldn't want Outlaw to rush his return. Specially after seeing what Webster went through....

With the way TO leaps you have to be careful with the foot, I've had Labrum and fully torn rotator cuff surgery, unless there are complications Batum S/B back on time.

with your labrum surgery recovery, are you able to do cardio/sprinting/etc? Or are you basically just functionally mobile?

After the first 4- 6 weeks yes, gradually. I had two screws inserted with full tear so it was worse thatn Batum's and I am over 50, arm/shoulder in a sling for a month, but I could do hard bike cardio after a week or so. I actually was hitting tennis balls pretty agressively in 3-4 months but only groundstrokes - no serving or anything above shoulder - again I had a full tear.

I think both Nico's and TO's timeline have been pushed back. There isn't a reason to rush them back after GO went down. Travis isn't going to be ready by the trade deadline, so let his minutes go to someone else to see how they develop. As for Nico, let him come back when he's good and healed. Let him get to 100%.

You really have to watch out rushing back from a shoulder injury, especially a separation. My guess is he will make it back slightly earlier due to being young, but overall they would be smart to not bring him back too quickly. That is a good recipe to make a shoulder injury "chronic" instead of a one time thing.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Yeah, absolutely. If the team was making a push for title contention late in the season, it would be a tough decision over when to bring Outlaw and Batum back. Now, I probably wouldn't mind if they were held out the whole season to be safe (though, with Outlaw an impending free agent, I don't know whether he'd want to be held out the whole season...that probably complicates things a bit).

Batum is a Blazer with a fairly serious injury. By the time the training staff is through annointing him with goats' blood and possum dung, and shaking rattles over him, he will be lucky to ever play again.
