I have totally given up on Blake ever leaving. He will be a Blazer forever and start as long as Nate is here.

    Yes please.

Orlando would hugely stupid to make this deal.

Gortat is a nice player and would be huge addition to Portland.

The only reason they take Blake is for cap relief. And then they would probably take both Blake and Outlaw for the 8 million they would take off the cap.

An odd idea since they could have just let Gortat walk and accomplished the same thing.

Orlando has a 6 million dollar TPE roughly, which would make a trade pretty easy between the two teams, I believe. Otherwise, Pretty sure Blake, Mills, and Pendergraph maikes it work financially.

TPE's can't be combined with other players unless the TPE deal could be done independently, so it can't help with matching salaries for BYC involved deal. However BYC deals involving lower salaries (like Gortat's) aren't too tough when another contract is included.

For instance, if (as I suggested below) he were paired with Pietrus, their total outgoing value would be about 8.8M, and our incoming would be about 11.1M. As long as what we sent back totals between 9M-11M, then we're golden. Blake/Outlaw/Rudy/Pendergraph would save them a TON of money, give them decent value, and give them a backup big to take Gortat's 15mpg once JP is healthy (late this month?).

From our perspective, it's a lot to give up, but I think it gives us a solid 9-man rotation with Miller/Bayless/Roy/Webster/Pietrus/Dante/Aldridge/Gortat/Przybilla. As much as Maris would hate it, I think it could work.

If the Blazers are going to do this I prefer one of two combos in return. Option 1 over option 2, because I believe Anderson could be the starting SF here.

    1. Gortat and Ryan Anderson.
    2. Gortat and Bass.

yeah, i knew that. I had been thinking we could work a deal where we sent them, say, Blake, Mills and Pendergraph for their TPE.
Then turned around and received Gortat and maybe the rights to Fran Vasquez with our cap space we created. We would need to immediately waive the TPE to have our cap space. but we currently have about 1 million in cap space. The combo of Blake, Pendy and Mills would generate another 4.9 or so. Gortat makes 5.8.

I'd rather take Bass and go small at times with Aldridge at 5, but to me any deal that moves out blake and brings in a big is great.

I just want Miller to start (and play 30 at least) and Bayless to back him up getting 15mpg a night. Then I'll be happy.

That makes a lot of sense EXCEPT that the Magic will want to keep Gortat for insurance, no matter how unhappy it makes him.

Bulls traded both Eddie Curry and Jamal Crawford as BYC players. It can be done, but you need some hefty salaries in/out for both sides so the BYC difference is in the noise.

Of course, the BYC difference might be really small and not make it so tough.

    No, no and no.

I'm all for trading Blake and getting a big back. But Gortat makes zero sense unless we plan on completely giving up on Oden or completely giving up on Joel. I don't think we're going to do either.

If we're going to trade for a pure center, it's gonna be a stop gap player with a much shorter contract.

I would much rather see us take a run at Tyrus Thomas and play small ball SSOL for the year.

If the BYC is really small then we are fine because we are under the cap.

You are making a huge mistake my friend. Blake for Gortat would be a fantastic trade.

Plus there's no way we go with SSOL with McMillan.
