How will Oden's injury affect attendance and/or ticket prices on the 2ndary market? Do you think the sell-out streak will be broken as more fans just suffer into their little lulls of depression? Will they be easier to obtain? What about the vibe at the RG? I find it hard to cheer super loudly now..I'm sure many otehr fans feel the same way. Do you think it will be noticeable?
If your fandom comes down to a healthy and productive Oden then they probably weren't much of a fan of the team to begin with. I hope people continue to support the team as they certainly did when Bowie went through his ups and downs. This team still has some exciting players and guys worth cheering for and I would hope people still remember this.
Pure guesses as I buy tix regularly from the "secondary market" but I'm not a scalper or broker myself... I think this will soften demand a little but not a lot. Casual fans in Portland are back on the bandwagon so it's still a popular thing to do. Losing Oden sucks but people will still go to the games. It'll be easier to find deals on non-marquee games I suspect, though. As for the sellout thing, there's no way they let the "sellout streak" end. Towards the beginning of "the streak" there were some seriously bogus sellouts...lots of open seats but they still called it a sellout. The team determines what classifies as a sellout...so no, that won't end. Vibe...hmm, I don't know...I can't even imagine seeing a game right now...too bummed...give me a couple weeks, I'll be at the Christmas game...
It could keep away a lot of the bandwagoners because Oden DID bring back a lot of fans. Bandwagoners, who needs them, right? Well, money is money and this injury will effect ticket sales.
Winning brought back fans...so, it's a different argument to discuss how the team will do this year... if the team was Minnesota bad fans would dry up, but they're not so people will still show up. Plus, a lot of tickets are already sold for this year's games so the impact won't be too significant financially. The question about secondary market demand is more interesting because scalpers are sitting on a lot of tickets right now... Oh and bandwagonners are great! They buy tickets, drinks, merch and help the team out a lot financially! Come one come all!!!
I always go through the secondary market. I usually pay face value right now, but probably I can get them for below face.
Agreed. A lot of tickets are already sold, and I'm sure the Blazers won't let the sellout streak snap. I still think the fans will show up too. And all of the injuries I feel are going to be a rallying point for us. No one expects much from us for the rest of the season and we can be the underdogs again. It'll make the playoffs that much sweeter knowing what the team has gone through.
The most I've ever paid is $10 over face and that was a last second decision to see Boston. It's the only time I ever paid more than face. Between last year and this year it's been about 50/50 whether I paid face vs. under...
blah blah blah. Who are you to question whether somebody is a fan or not? The facts are, some fans are so hardcore it absolutely crushed them when this happened. They will get over it in time.
jesus. i just bought two courtside baseline tickets at the RG, row 0 for $65 each for the Blazers game vs. the Clippers. hope that is legit.
