Q: Will the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts both go 16-0 this season?

It would be really nice to see two teams end the season 16-0, but I can't see this happening. I think both teams will be beat at least once before the playoffs begin.

I think the Saints have a better chance than the Colts do. They don't have a very tough schedule to finish the year - they're toughest game is Dallas, and they play that at the Superdome.

The other reason is I think the Colts will start resting players once they wrap up homefield advantage for the postseason (which should happen in the next couple weeks). They don't care one iota about going undefeated. They're a veteran team that knows that the most important thing is to be healthy going in to the playoffs. Beyond that, being undefeated going in to the postseason is just going to add even more pressure on them to keep winning, and playing in the postseason is already enough pressure as it is, they don't need to compound upon it.

That's a good point. The Colts have been in this situation before. I think they'll rest their players down the road. Sean Payton's already told the media that he'll be playing for the perfect record.

ESPN brought up a great point about the Colts resting their players...for the most part, it hasn't worked. They usually get bounced in the playoffs. One of the analyst, forgot who, was making the case for letting the players keep playing and keep their rhythm so they don't lose it and can go into the playoffs clicking.

And that is why the Saints' will fail in the post-season. They're so caught up on that 16-0. I like the Colts' position here. Act like you've been there before, know your destination and goal. The Saints' are going to get upset this post-season. Mark it.

I think both will but then they'll lose in the playoffs.

Honestly taking a month off annoyed me in 2005, that is one way to build rust. But either way I think we'll have a shot and we could get more playing time than people expect. So far we're going to rest "injured" players, but the fresher ones might keep playing. We have a new coach now, so I have to see how that goes.

The resting thing is controversial I'm not quite sure what they should do. I only want to win the Superbowl though, I'm not a greedy person a perfect season is just some accessory. I don't care about running up the score and worthless crap like that.

Very interesting point Mamba it has indeed had mixed results. The Colts didn't start the 07-08 playoffs that bad but Marvin's first catch was a fumble in the redzone, they should have kept him out of that one. At the same time Indy couldn't stop Billy Volek from scoring so that was a joke. The year after that, wow that was a war. The Chargers are a pretty good team so you have to give them credit for being better overall those seasons. Garcon and Collie are much needed depth, I am thankful for them. Anyway, I think the AFC is just a better conference overall.

I will say though, that the wildcard playoff teams in the NFC might be better. Giants, Eagles, Cowboys, Packers. They all have potent offenses that give them a shot against the other 12-0 team that hasn't had a tough schedule. Cards and Vikes would also be shootouts, should be pretty interesting.
