Hedo: 32 min. 14 pts, 5 rbs, 4 assts $10+ million this season ($60 million overall) Andre: 22 min. 11 pts, 3 rbs, 5 assts $7 million ($14 million overall - 3rd year is team option) Is it safe to say that Andre's stats would be closer to or even better than Hedo's if Miller got the same minutes as Hedo? Would we have more wins with Hedo?
Looking at it now and the rotations, I think Hedo would have been MUCH better. but overpaid and outside a good window to be useful.
All that is safe to say is that these are 2 of the most ridiculously overpaid players in the league considering their mediocre contributions to their new teams so far.
I thought Hedo was a bad idea then, and he's still a bad idea. If we were to swap those two players this very minute, we'd be absolutely killed on the defensive end because we'd only have Przybilla to clean up his mistakes. And I think we can pull the trigger on an Andre Miller deal at pretty much any time after Dec 15th. We may not get anything wonderful back, but it won't be that poisonous either. You can package his contract in with a youngster to make a bigger deal work. It probably helps more than hurts having him in there for a consolidation trade. I wish Toronto luck in finding a suitor for that $60 mil contract. You'd have to give somebody a talented youngster just to unload that monster.
I would've taken Hedo in a minute over Andre at a Miller-type contract. But Hedo at $50 million over 5 years was WAY too much.
The thing that Turkoglu would do for the Blazers is give Roy someone that can be a spot up shooter for him rather than Andre Miller's pathetic excuse for a shot. Turkoglu is really putting up good stats considering they have 3 other guys that get quite a few touches on offense, while if he was on Portland, he'd be getting the 2nd most touches on offense albeit.
If they had the same contracts, I'd swap Miller for Hedo in a heartbeat. But the fact that our window this year, and possibly for a while, has closed, means that we were lucky that Hedo turned us down.
Where we screwed up was in not offering Millsap more money. I don't know why we went cheap on him? If we had signed Millsap we would be in much better shape now.
After what we've seen of the problems certain players have had accepting Miller into their little "club", I have no doubt they would have hated Turkoglu also.
If we were a contender this year, Hedo would have helped greatly. But since Oden went down, the money for Hedo would have been wasted for this year. I didn't feel this way before 4 days ago, but now I'm glad that Pritchard screwed up in failing to sign the player he had chosen.
