Uh, Cuttino Mobley...But the thing is, Kurt Thomas was injured alot. You still have a pretty bad defense, not much has changed there.
I do think that someone on the Clippers deserved an award though, but not the GM. Colangelo did a lot more.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CB4AllStar @ Apr 26 2006, 02:58 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Uh, Cuttino Mobley...But the thing is, Kurt Thomas was injured alot. The Suns were top 10 in a lot of defensive stats I saw and they were better at the time than the Mavs in FG% against. Teams scored 100 points against them because they are allowed a lot more possesions. Thomas was only injured for a while at the end of the season... Their defense made a major improvement from last year. They went from a bottom 3 defense to an average one or slightly better. Colangelo got us Kurt, Raja who were huge signings along with Diaw and Jones and the coaching staff I think got them to focus mor eion D.
You raise some good points, but you have to realize, Baylor really improved that Clipper squad. Plus, Colangelo won it last year because the huge improvement of the Sun team, thats mainly what they base it on.
Raja Bell is a VERY GOOD defensive player man. That's the reason we got him. And Kurt Thomas was our best defensive player. After he left we were giving up 8 more points per game. Our bench players were also trying more on D. BCB, don't talk unless you know what you are talking about.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CB4AllStar @ Apr 26 2006, 03:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>You raise some good points, but you have to realize, Baylor really improved that Clipper squad. Hey, I do like the Clippers.

Please.
The suns with a healthy Amare this year is scary. Much better than last year and a threat to win it all.
They do actually...their defense is average but when they have to make them they usually step up their D and they have made stops. Almost half of this season was meaningless for them though so you didn't see it much.
But he knew what pieces he needed to add. And adding two good players is actually hard to do. It takes skill as a GM. He knew what pieces the franchise needed and he pulled them off.Well deserved.
These awards were pretty predictable. But i think Elgin Baylor did deserve this. Sam Cassell was huge. Cuttino Mobley was a good signing. Shaun Livingston was a good pick (not sure if he actually picked him tho). They were still a mediocre team w/o Cassell and Mobley.
He has been the best perimeter defender for the last two seasons. Everyone has seen how he has shut down superstar time and time again. Ben wallace is not even the best man to man defender on his team and his winning DPOTY. I believe it's a disgrace, either give it to Marion or bowen.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CB4AllStar @ Apr 26 2006, 05:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>He picked Shaun Livingston the year before </div>i knew that you idiot. I'm saying that he panned out when healthy.
It's a good list, but Bowen or Marion should have won DPOY.And I know people aren't actually saying the Suns play anything close to decent defense...and it actually can't be compared to the Mavs this year. They have some decent defenders in Kurt and Raja and Marion, but as a team they are a garbage defense. 3 good defensive players don't make you a good defensive team.

it doesn't have to do with them this year, just his GM skills. We are just seeing that it was a good pick this year.haha, i just realized that tony never posted who won the ROY. I wonder who it is..
