<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Woodson Signs With Packers 26th April, 2006 - 9:36 pm AP - The Green Bay Packers made their first major splash in the free-agent market this offseason, agreeing to terms with defensive back Charles Woodson on Wednesday. Woodson's agent, Kevin Poston, said the Packers agreed to a seven-year deal for $52.7 million, including $10.5 million in the first year of the contract. Packers general manager Ted Thompson declined comment. Woodson's signing comes a day after Brett Favre told the team he would return to play the 2006 season. Favre previously urged the team to make a "statement" in free agency, similar to the signing of Reggie White in 1993.</div> He's so overrated and overpayed it's ridiculous. We don't sign anything this offseason and then to waste all this money on HIM? I know we won't him all of that but still...
Yeah, that is overpaying big time, and SEVEN years?!!? If I was going to go after a cornerback, i would of tried getting Ty Law, but only for a 1 or 2 year contract.
I know there arent guarenteed contracts in the NFL, but they are still payin 10.5 million the first year and about 7 million every year after for a cornerback that is past his prime.
You are thinking about it the wrong way. Our defense is so young. Nick Collins, Ahmad Carroll and Mark Roman will all gain knowlage from this man. He is a true leader and will help out our often confused defense.BTW, nice sig BCB. I made this one as soon as I saw lol.
man, the Packers are really looking to improve their defense this year. It'd be a good move if it was for less mullah.

That's just insane.</div> It doesn't matter, we won't pay him most of it and we had the $14 million in cap not being used so we add depth with Woodson.
The Packers needed some help in the secondary and that is exactly what they are getting, some help. He will have 5-8 picks this year, but the Packers still could use some help up front.
Wow, I think the Packers are making a huge mistake. He's not going to last 7 years and they're overpaying him by a whole lot. Bad move
No they aren't, the contract isn't guarenteed and we easily had the extra cap to sign him, we are UNDER the cap so signing him made no difference.
