I agree there probably is no trade to make us a contender this year, but perhaps there is a trade that could help us in the future; just getting rid of Blake or Miller and clearing playing time for Bayless should help. At the least we could determine if we need to find another young PG or if Bayless can do the job. Of course we don't need to trade anyone, they could just give Bayless more time on the court but it seems just trading Miller for an expiring contract would give the team more options in the future.

do you guys really think we are going to trade a guy like blake and find that "3rd option"? why would anyone in their right mind trade us anyone of value for blake/outlaw/miller? and can we stop with the whole notion of "showcasing" guys? this is the nba, they have more scouts than you can probably imagine, let alone hours upon hours of video on each player. they guy is an average to above average backup pg, i'm pretty sure everyone in the league knows that.

our guys that have any value in a trade are Pryz and Bayless. and even those two aren't going to net you the type of player that is going to make an impact right away.

Memphis has zero scouts. I can imagine zero. It's the number of championships the Blazers have won in my lifetime.

FOR THE 1000th TIME...... PLEASE READ AND THINK ABOUT WHAT IM WRITING.....

YOU DONT NEED A SUPERSTAR TO GET A SUPERSTAR/SOLID PLAYER.

YOU NEED EXPIRING CONTRACTS and young guys with upside..... shhhh we have them (outlaw and blake and lots of youth like bayless or batum) TEAMS WANT THAT. HAVE YOU SEEN MEMPHIS, CHARLOTTE, INDIANA GAMES THIS YEAR????? N O B O D Y - T H E R E.

I mean are you guys stupid or just playing stupid?

THE ONLY THNG WE NEED IS A GM WHO CAN PULL IT OFF. SADLY KP ISNT THAT GM. HE HAS NO GUTS AND IS A PURE PUSSY. ALL HE CAN DO IS LIVE OFF THE ROY AND LA PICKS. EVERYTHING ELSE BLEW UP IN HIS ARROGANT FACE.

THIS DRIVES ME NUTS WHEN I SEE.... "we have nothing to trade" with a deer in headlight expression while they type.

I would be fine with any trade that took the future into account more then the present. I hate that we are losing right now, but I still love our future outlook, with Roy, Aldridge, Oden at the core along with Batum.

But the way I see it, is that next year we will be set at 4 of the 5 positions. I think Batum will be a very solid SF. That means that we are still looking for the PG. We seem to always be looking for the PG. I was laughed at when I suggested that we go after Chauncey when he was available.

And I would be willing, to trade a lot for a truly good PG. The problem is, there are none available. If a PG becomes really good, teams just don't let them go. That's why it is so important to keep trying to get good PG's when they are young and unestablished, either via draft or trade.

Our trades should be less designed to bring wins this season as next. Trade for Acie Law for example. or even Conley. I don't really know, but we need to keep trying out PG's till we get one that fucking works out. Bayless might actually be good, and I hope he is. But that does not mean that we should not be looking for even better. This will be the key to next year actually being a success. Well, that and much fewer injuries.

this is why i am stating to hate this board. CP3.... really? no dude. guys like butler, gay, wallace, maybe even average players like mike miller it doesnt matter. JUST A LEGIT SF.

Teams taht are gonna lose players for nothing. DING DING.. RUDY GAY on MEMPHIS. Hes gone this summer. Teams want to get something so they dont get nothing. Gay would be great for us. A GUY WHO CAN SCORE AT THE 3. WHAT WE BADLY NEED!

You are correct sir! Even an average SF. This is how bad it is. Omnri Cassippi who was drafted 23 is better than Martell Webster in his first year, by far. Chase Budinger who was drafted in the 2nd round is better than Webster, by a lot. Quentin Richardson, who was a free agent this year, showed up to camp in shape, and is playing well better than Martell is.

Any player who will hit his share of open jumpers would be a huge upgrade and open everything else up. Why guard a guy if he is shooting 35%?

all we need is a decent sf and backup center... and we will make the playoffs.

otherwise no chance. i dont get why we dont trade for a center anyway. pryz is gone this summer...

KP can make that deal because KingSpeed says there's always a "Gasol deal" available if you're a good enough GM.

    Trade Assessment:

Blake: Expiring contract. Would make an excellent back-up for a contender or a team looking to dump salary for 2010. We would not see much in return however, if Blake was the sole Blazer involved.

Bayless: A young team in need of a Guard. Maybe a new environment will permit Bayless to shine. No matter, he's an tradable asset to a small handful of teams, or as a pawn in a package deal.

Webster: I don't imagine he has great trade value - but he does have a decent contract and could be used as a pawn in a package deal.

Rudy: With his back problems, I'll guess his trade value has dropped around the league. My guess: Rudy stays.

Outlaw: Pre-injury, I would have placed Outlaw as our top-valued player for the Trade Deadline (expiring contract too boot!). However, I think a trade of Outlaw won't happen until the summer, if at all.

Pryzbilla: Pre-Oden injury, Pryz may have been a huge trade piece. Personally speaking, I think we need to extend Joel (if he'll stay!) as we will always need a solid back-up....and Joel is one of the best...as a back-up. Will he be used in a trade this year? I say 50/50 chance of it. If so, it will be at the Trade Deadline, to an East Coast contender - only if the Blazers are out of the hunt.

Aldridge: Odds are that he won't be moved. However, I'd be intrigued if a Bosh-deal could be worked out.

Roy: Blazer-for-life (unless he developes a serious attitude problem down the line???)

Miller: Just not sure what value he'd bring in return? However, Miller + a pawn (Rudy, Webster, Bayless) might get us Butler or Gortat.

Why does this keep coming up? Assuming Joel does opt out, can't Portland match whatever other offer(s) he gets? With Greg's injury history I can't imagine they let Joel walk. The way this team is built, and with the pace we play - we NEED a strong defense/rebounding front line to win. And who knows what we'll get from GO and for how long next year.

And what center do you want to trade for? Who's available? Marcus Camby? I don't know what kind of offers Joel will see this summer but in this economy it's hard to imagine teams offering $10 million for a 5 pts/8 rbs guy, which is great for us. I think he will be a Blazer next season and for seasons to come most likely.

They can match. But would Joel want to stay here as a backup or be a starter somewhere else?

id love to keep pryz.... just dont think it happens.

with that said... we need a backup for this year...BADLY. dont care who we get as long as hes decent and can play 15 minutes with decent totals.
