They won't trade him. He means too much to their fan base, or what is left of it...plus he's a cheap contract.

The Angels' just went from a team that finally got over the hump into the ALCS to a team that'll get swept again.

No Bay, no Halladay, no Lackey, and adding Matsui.

Apparently it's Clay Bucholz and some other pieces for him. They dealt Peavy last year so I'm not surprised if they deal Gonzalez. They have some 1B prospects to replace him. Keep in mind Depodesta is the GM in SD. Or like Dodger fans refer to him. Stupidesta. They won't be able to afford Gonzalez and this is a way of getting something back for him.

Lackey has never pitched well in Boston. It will be interesting to see how this move pans out.

Gonzo is a cheap contract though and is under club control for awhile, I believe. There is no need to trade him. Peavy's contract was too much for a losing team to afford. I highly doubt they trade Gonzalez. If they do, they loose the rest of their remaining fan base. Its just a stupid business move.

And losing Lackey isn't what bothers me, I'm bothered by the lack of willingness to spend and go after the big fish. We could have had Halladay, but we're not letting go of one of our prospects. We could have Bay, but we're content with Matsui. Fuck that shit. Lackey isn't pure ace, he is just a good pitcher.

Kyle Blanks is the Padres hot prospect.

I was thinking play action, even shotgun formation. At least one time.

Yeah, I think play action might have worked there. The Cowboys are so damn predictable, though.

Roy Halladay to Philly, Cliff Lee to Seattle.

    Again, the Angels hesitate.

    Artie Moreno usually spends.

He has hesitated this summer and it has cots the Angels' a chance to improve.

Angels' taking a shot on Matsui for 1 year, $6.5 million. It worked last year with Bobby Abreu, hopefully it works this year.

    Rotation: Weaver - Kazmir - Saunders - Santana - ???

    1B - Morales
    2B - Kendrick
    3B - Wood
    SS - Aybar
    LF - Rivera
    CF - Hunter
    RF - Rivera
    DH - Matsui

With Morales, we've got 30+ HR, Matsui about 25, Hunter, too. Wood has power potential, but this is his first real year in the big leagues. If he can have a Kendry Morales type of year, he should blast 30+ but the adjustment curve factored in, I'll be fine with 20.

My mariners now have an amazing 1-2 punch with King Felix and Cliff Lee :) Would have been a perfect summer if the fucking Rangers didn't steal Harden away from us. Or the Red Sox stealing Adrian Gonzalez.

Nice 1-2 punch. Hope you have the offense, though.

Rivera is a stud playing both RF and LF at the same time.

Don't forget about the Catcher position for the Angels too. Napoli is another slugger in the lineup and hopefully Mathis has finally learned to hit the ball with the way he was hitting in the post season.

I love the Matsui signing because he's another patient hitter in the lineup and has power in his bat still. We saw the positive effect Abreu had on the hitters last season and Matsui will be another veteran the young guys can learn from.

I think the 5th starter is going to be Sean O'Sullivan. He has star potential and if he's not ready Matt Palmer is a solid stop gap pitcher. I just don't an ace pitcher with the current rotation. There's potential there with Weaver, Kazmir or Saunders, but they aren't a true number one.

The Angels might want to see how this team does for the first 3 or 4 months of the season and then make a big blockbuster down the line.

Yeah, Rivera is playing both ;] I meant Abreu :] Thanks for pickin that up.

I hate how Napoli and Mathis split time. If Mathis can hit the ball like he did in the post season year round, I have no problem with him getting the majority of PT.

We haven't had a true #1 in a long time. Lackey's a bit overrated, always has been. I've stated that for awhile, too.

I like Weaver, he showed balls last year...hopefully it wasn't a fluke. Kazmir's got the stuff, he just is inconsistent.

I'm not a SOS fan. I wonder if they'll let Reckling compete for a spot in spring training.

I like the Matsui signing as well, I just don't think it is enough to get over the hump. I'd still like to see them go after Bay and trade Rivera. Rivera is good production @ a cheap rate.

    Hi Michau

I'd recommend Barrystickets.com they usually have the best selection. Or you should be able to buy tickets when you actually get to NY.

The Jason Bay war has come down to 3 teams -- Mets, Angels, and Mariners. I think the Angels' need to make a strong play for him to turn this off-season into a positive thing

Bay in LF, and trade Rivera for some bullpen help or a 5th starter.

Last day of community college was today.

Weird...Don't have classes again until next fall. I've got a nice little break. I'm hoping to score a 2nd job or something to help pass the time and earn some extra $$$.
