Recently Frank Mir almost had a nervous breakdown when he heard Brock Lesnar may never fight again, reason being he is absolutely desperate to fight him a third time.

Also, in recent interview, BJ Penn's trainer Rudy Valentino revealed that the fight that BJ wants the most is a third bout against Georges St. Pierre, regardless if it has title implications or, presumably, was held in a closet at the bottom of the sea.

Both of these guys could learn from their peers who are almost to a man able to graciously accept defeat. You can either be in the John Ruiz, Tito Ortiz category, or the Forrest Griffin, Miguel Torres category. Which would you prefer?

Re: BJ Penn and Frank Mir...

    I hate Mir.

I thought he had become more humble after defeating a staph-infected Big Nog, especially with his after speech and all...but since then, he's been his typical douche self. I hope Kongo can keep it standing and KTFO Frank. Dude is a fucking douche bag to no end.

On the positive side, Mir looks like he's packed on the muscle pretty nicely. If he's serious about going @ Brock again, let him get a rubber match. It'll sell. I just think it is weird how he wants to kill Brock.

And BJ, you're not getting a third shot.

Re: BJ Penn and Frank Mir...

To make matters worse, Mir has talked down to Cheick Kongo so much leading to their fight that Kongo is enraged.

Mir's confidence in his stand-up might be at an all time high because of his win over Big Nog but he could be in trouble with Kongo if he tries to get fancy.

I want Mir and Big Nog to rematch so Nogueira can kick his ass.

There is no rubber match between GSP and BJ. GSP is 2-0.

Mir/Lesnar III needs to happen though. Mir looked fucking good. I'd like to see him fight Cain or Carwin, next.

Mir vs. Carwin should happen with Brock sidelined.

    Winner gets winner of Nogueira/Velasquez.

    HW mini tournament FTW!

If Mir looks that good, imagine him with more time getting his strength up? Lesnar had to have noticed that performance.

Re: BJ Penn and Frank Mir...

Yep. I'd read rumblings about Mir focusing on adding weight to compete with Brock in a rubber match but figured he was pretty much stuck at 240-245 lbs or whatever he was. Didn't know that he had never weight trained before though so obviously that makes a difference and dude seems like hes got the frame to handle the weight. I was shocked when he weighed in so heavy and a little skeptical because he didn't look that much bigger than the last time I saw him. He seems pretty legit now though I'd like to see his gas tank get tested.

Re: BJ Penn and Frank Mir...

Yeah I think Mir looks beastly right now, but unless he starts training with top shelf wrestlers, he's still getting put on his butt by Lesnar and controlled and pounded on by those canned hams Lesnar calls fists...

A lot of him being held down was the strength difference and size difference, though. He might be taken down, but now he might be able to get up or transition easier.

Re: BJ Penn and Frank Mir...

mmmmmmmaybe but Lesnar is a skilled wrestler, something tells me he can keep it on the ground even with a bigger guy.
of course if that's Lesnar's first fight back, he could still be diminished from the sickness and layoff.

I'd like to see Lesnar get a tune up fight before facing Mir. But that leaves the possibility that both guys would have to fight and potentially lose, and a third matchup between the 2 would be big PPV buys for the UFC.

I think this is a case where a 3rd fight needs to happen, no matter what.

Re: BJ Penn and Frank Mir...

    agreed :D

but I think it will be very similar to the 2nd one.

I think the first one is a toss out as that was Lesnar's second career MMA fight, so even if Mir wins, they should do it again a year later

I think Mir will train his TD Defense a lot. He rocked Lesnar...twice on the feet?

He hit him, I don't know if you can say he rocked him.

Mir is shook up mentally by Lesnar. I don't think he'd do well in a rubber match.
