....the return of El Chacho! I wonder if he's cheered tonight? I kind of feel he got a bum rap here, although, I'd still choose Bayless over him.
Prediction time: Sergio will thrive running the break for Sacramento tonight against Portland's porous defense and will probably have a decent line, on the flipside I predict he'll pick up 5 fouls trying to check Jerryd.
He just came off a 9 assist game for a win against Minnesota. Dude has a PER of almost 20 right now. Sactown has become a .500 club since he started getting real playing time. I'm happy to see he's coming around. Too bad we could never get anything out of him (in terms of production or trade). Man, I wish we'd traded that guy when he was a rookie and his stock was through the roof.
Funny, these days I'm wishing we'd traded Nate instead. The guy has seemingly no idea how to manage the PG position.
This is a bold prediction because you're assuming JB is actually going to get enough PT to draw five fouls from El Matador!
Sergio was one of my favorite Blazers over the past few years. I hope he receives a warm reception. He has nothing to be booed for. He plays well only one way, and the Kings are a great fit for him. I hope he plays really well in a Kings loss.
Dude, this is funny. I hope Sergio does well so Maris can tel everyone to "suck it!" lol omg I think the internet would explode.
I guess I'm assuming that all the talk about Nate changing the starting lineup and the rotation starting tonight is actually true.
I will lose all respect for the RG if the fans in it boo Sergio. I hope he plays a lot of minutes and shows up Nate.
Or gave him as much of a chance as Jarrett. Sergio was always jerked out of the game with each mistake or two.
One of the things that has always bothered me is the announcing change. For example, Damon went from "From the University of Arizona and Wilson High School, Mighty Mouse, DAAAAAAAMON STOUDAMIIIIIIIIRE!" to "From the University of Arizona, Damon Stoudamire". Once a Blazer, always a Blazer. If the Blazer announcer is reading this (and I'm sure he isn't), announce Sergio like he were still a member of the team. Call him "El Chacho". Put a little emphasis in the announcement. It won't hurt the current Blazers and it will make Sergio feel welcome. Do the right thing.
With a coach who allows his players to play their game and allows his PG's to run the offense and think for themselves, Sergio is excelling and the Kings are a very good, entertaining team when he's running the show. Beno Udrih has also blossomed into a far better PG than we currently have. If rosters stay the same for the season, Sac will finish higher than we do. If they had a center, they'd be a contender. Tyreke Evans is looking like a better draft pick than Roy was.
THAT team knew how to play basketball. This team clearly does not. We had the perfect line-up, and tore it apart to protect a coach with limited vision.
I was at the Kings preseaon game and will be there again tonight. There was a smattering of applause (including me) when Sergio entered the game. However, there was one guy a couple sections to the right of me that was heckling Sergio pretty bad. He booed him, quite loudly, when he entered the game, every time he touched the ball, and yelled out "Sergio, you SUCK!" everytime Sergio turned the ball over or missed a shot - which was frequently (he was 1-6 and had 3 TOs in 16 minutes). I'm not into the whole "booing thing". I never boo our own players, don't boo our ex-players and only boo our opponents when they deserve it (cheap shot, dirty foul, etc.). I do, however, boo the refs vigorously when they blow a call. So, Sergio will once again receive polite applause from me - and I hope others. He didn't work out here, and I was happy to see him traded, but that doesn't mean I wish him ill. As long as the Blazers win, I'm OK with Sergio having a career night - and hope the crowd treats him kindly whether he does, or not. BNM
