McRoberts had been mentioned as a potential high draft pick for the upcoming NBA draft. McRoberts had until Saturday to make his decision. McRoberts, a member of the ACC All-Freshman team last year, averaged 8.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 blocked shots per game while helping Duke to a 32-4 record. "I am very excited about my decision to return to Duke to continue my academic and athletic career," McRoberts was quoted on the site. "I am looking forward to working with the coaching staff to further develop my skills as a player," McRoberts said. "The relationships that I have in place here played a major role in my decision. I am anxious to see my bond with Coach K, the rest of the staff and my teammates grow even stronger." Duke won the ACC regular season and tournament championship for the ninth time in school history in 2006.</div>
Good choice, I like seeing these guys come back instead of risking going to the pros when they could clearly use more time at the NCAA level..
I think this was a good choice for Mcroberts, he has the oppurtunity to be the man at Duke for the next year or two, which he will be. Mcroberts i believe can be every bit as good as Hansbrough of North Carolina. The only difference between the two this year, was that Hansbrough was the main focus of the North Carolina offense, got more minutes, and got the ball more. Mcroberts was not the main option, as Reddick and Williams was the main options. Mcroberts hustles, gets rebounds, and has good footwork around the basket. Another year or two will be good for him, as Coach K will get him better at finishing down low, and ready for the NBA game. I think Mcroberts can be a very good player in the future.
Very good choice, I want to see he and Hansborough stay in the ACC, what great battles they could have.
Yeah. He will be a star at Duke for the next year or two. Its hard for him to find a spot in the offense last year, with two of the most dominant forces in the ACC at his side, Shelden Williams and JJ Redick. Hes got potential, athletisicm, and skills to be a great player.
I think this was a good choice. I didn't see NBA material out of that season from him. He needs a couple more years to develop and get the money and NBA rookie season he wants.
mcroberts was just seeing where he could be drafted. i think he'll be good but not for a year or two. this season wasn't even that great where he could even consider the nba. there were flashes but you gotta consistently play well and he did not do that.
