Yes, I do now remember that, Thanks then, thanks now. :)

Yeah, we wanna do the aquarium, Pikes, EMP, and generally putzing around that area around the hotel (Sixth Avenue Inn)....weather permitting, that is. I'm gonna check to see if Via Tribunali is nearby. We won't have a car, but could always hail a cab.

    Thanks again, Ed.

EDIT: I see Via Tribunali at The Crocodile on 2nd & Blanchard (Belltown). That looks totally doable.

ABM, try Elliot's Oyster House on Alaskan Way & Seneca (I think) if you're in the mood for some oysters. Instead of a heavy cocktail sauce, they make a cocktail sauce sorbet that just vaporizes in your mouth and lets the taste of the oyster really shine through.

If you want to grab a nice cup of coffee, try Cafe Vivace on Capitol Hill (there are two locations on Broadway). David Schomer really knows his stuff. I also dig Zeitgeist Coffee House near Pioneer Square.

For breakfast, I like 5 Spot on Queen Anne.

If you feel like walking around some nice neighborhoods and parks, Arboretum and Madison Park are both really nice. I also like Magnolia and Fremont.

Anyway, you'll find plenty to do.

OK, thanks a lot, maxie. Now you went and made me have to move these suggestions to a separate document. ;)

Thanks, I'll run these (and the others) past the better half.

BTW, eating oysters is almost orgasmic for me.

    Another request:

Any suggestions as to a good relatively roomy sports bar (in that area) to watch the Rose Bowl?

    Thanks!

A quick check found this place. Appears to be near the Seattle Center (EMP, Space Needle, etc.) area.

ABM, I say you head to the Belly of the Beast--The U District--in your Emerald & Gold finery. Ask anyone you see wearing Lavender & Puke where you can watch a REAL football team play.

I'm not a shark with razor wit and smooth savvy such as yourself. Therefore, I'd become mincemeat in the hands of the natives. I couldn't let my poor wife would witness the carnage.

don't they have an ESPN Zone in Seattle? Maybe the Taphouse Grill too but its kind of weird being underground and everything.

    edit: guess no ESPN Zone

This place looks pretty cool, as well. Appears to be a little more intimate (great pizza reviews!)....down by Pioneer Square.

My thought is, my wife will indulge me in the game, I'll then indulge her (and myself) in the whole Pioneer Square experience.

    Thanks for these!

My wife also mentioned a ferry ride to Bremerton. Apparently, there's a little cafe she likes for lunch. :dunno:

I actually liked the Chowder @ Ivar's....I went to one on a lake though...outside of seattle. It was pretty damned good. Acres of Clams baby!

Matt's in the Market is hard to find. Make sure you also go to Beecher's cheese there...good fucking stuff up in there.

I did the Duck Boat tour thing on some corporate trip years ago. Cheesy but kind of fun:

Good way to get the lay of the land without having to drive yourself. Kind of a nice way to sit on your ass and still see things after a few days of walking everywhere.

Seems like every time I've gone to Seattle I wind up on a ferry boat at some point. As an Idaho land lubber, it's just a novelty I never quite get over. Best view of the city.

The library is pretty impressive. That's the one that basically doesn't have any stairs, but just a spiraling floor, right? I was a librarian assistant in a past life at Knight Library/U of O, so I always like seeing them.

Big fan of the aquarium, too.

BTW--am I the only tourist in America who doesn't "get" the fish tossing? I mean, yeah, so they can throw and catch fish. If I were paid to throw bags of potatoes at people, I'd probably get pretty good at it. But would people really want to watch it?

Hmmm. Maybe I just came up with a new attraction here in Boise....if you can't make sense out of it, at least make money out of it.

Dang, they only operate through the end of December. We'll arrive the evening of the 31st. :(
