I just wanted to say that I was real happy with the increase of the intensity by the Blazers in the second half. They were down real big in rebounding at the half, and by the end of the game they caught it up real good. It was a nice effort, and I appreciate that. One of the toughest parts of the game for me was when they showed all of our injured guys on the bench in suits tonight. That was sad to see. All of them were pulling for the Blazers really hard tonight though. I saw Rudy yelling several times he was very involved. I thought Sergio got a nice hand. Still looked like happy go lucky Sergio. Fortunately he was throwing the ball away to us tonight.
What an exciting win that was. Roy and Aldridge played great. And Bayless was exeptional late in the game. But Joel deserves the player of the game award. I know he didn't score much, but he was a defensive juggernaut, drawing charges left and right, playing solid D on Hawes and Thompson, had a couple of nice blocks, and rebounded well. He was constantly sacrificing his body in the game and was laying it all on the line. What a warrior he is.
WHen are people going to wake up and actually pay attention to Blakes shooting percentages? Yes he hit 2 timely shots tonight, and had a rebound... All of his stats were important when they happened. Burt that doens't mean he should be starting based on his shooting which is really bad this season.
I think Miller is a lot better than Blake, but last night Blake was playing well in the 4th. There was no real need to get him out of there.
BLANKY didn't start. Miller's not exactly shooting well either, BTW, and his defense last night was TERRIBLE. When is he going to start passing the ball, and when is he going to at least try and stay in front of his man? Bayless is the one glimmer of hope at the PG position, but he can't play with Miller and Roy, because all three need the ball to make an impact, which means we'll see more of BLANKY than many would like to for the foreseeable future.
Before we get too excited about Blakes play last night, let's put it into perspective a bit. He came in with 1:04 left in the 3rd. 4th Qtr 11:46 Assist to LMA 9:37 3pt made 8:28 Rebound 5:57 Assist to LMA 4:35 2 point Jumper made So in a 8.5 minute stretch he scored 5, had 2 assists and 1 rebound. Interestingly in the 16 minutes played prior to that he had.... 0-2 from 3 and nothing else. So Kudos to Blake for timely play, but his game as a whole wasn't very good. Millers wasn't either. But to be giving Blake too much credit for last night alone is pretty biased and more about trying to be right than realistic.
I agree with everything you say. I am speaking more directly to the people who apparently think Steve Blake should be starting.
Who is excited about BLANKY'S play? I notice you didn't add how he actually attempted to play defense on Udrih, unlike the other veteran PG option. Very few people, if any, think BLANKY should be starting. The idea was that Miller would be such an upgrade that even thinking so would be ridiculous. When does Miller start getting some heat for his poor play so far this year?
Well giving Miller one game, especially with such a depleted roster isn't going to be the only tale of how important he will be for our team. I think running him for a little while longer may be the best option. Gotta make sure Miller has the reigns for a bit longer before we cash him in for a loss.
I don't want Miller to have the reigns. Roy has proven to be a much more efficient, and yes, BETTER option as the primary ball handler on offense. Miller doesn't appear to have the skills to effectively mesh his offensive game with the available players. He dominates the ball, and he shoots way too often for his crappy percentages. What happened to the guy who was supposed to be an assist machine? Somebody needs to find him soon, because Bayless can do what Miller offers right now (creating own shot with some passing), only better since he played some decent defense on Evans late in the game.
I'm all good with giving Bayless more time. I'm just worried about the age factor. If Miller isnt meshing like you said, then I would really like to find a better replacement that is more older. Fine... Have Bayless start, then make sure you have a veteran able to calm him down a bit if he gets too out of control. Oh and P.S. The team is Roy's, but their is no "I" in team. He needs some help when teams gang bust him.

You can also add that he's much quicker and able to keep up with the other team's faster guards. Hey, I just want us to win. I've had a downer year so far, with Batum, Outlaw, Oden, Fernandez and the Miller not working fiasco. I just wan't to see some nice positives now. Maybe with this adversity, something good will come out of it.
It explains Miller's -6, and Bayless's +3 and Blake's +6 and Udrih's +13. Sergio's -2 reflects his struggle when playing his old teammates, who know his game better than other teams do. Before this game he's averaged +7 this season.
If you take a deeper look you will see that he really has only had 4 or5 good games and the rest of them are totally forgettable, just like he was here. He is still the same Sergio
Except he has a PER of 18.6, and his TS% and eFG% have exploded. He's off to a decent start. I have to at least give him credit for it.
