Ok I am going to stop opening this thread because of the Lakers fans... Not because they are Lakers fans, but Good lord why does every Laker fan feel the need to have such stinkin large images or animated images in their sig line? Must be some LA form of Cyber-Bling.

If you say something that is factually wrong on an internet chat site, expect someone to correct you. Take offense if you want, but in this anonymous environment there is really no need.

In the court of public opinion, a considerable percentage of people view Kobe as a rich and privileged rapist who bought his way out of a Felony charge. I don't see why those people should "get over" something as serious as rape especially if they actually read up on what he did.
Superstar calls are BS. By reading one of your posts, we agree on this. You don't get those calls if you don't play for a desirable market and there is no more desirable market then LA which boasts the biggest fanbase in the league. There is no less desirable market then Milwaukee for the exact opposite reason. Kobe received superstar calls as a rookie, so save the earning it nonsense. Favoritism brings into question the results of games and seasons. Plain and simple, it sucks. Teams like Portland and Milwaukee are on the other side of this uneven playing field from the Lakers... it shouldn't come as any surprise that their fans and many other sport fans are turned off by it. I think it limits the league's popularity as many view the results as predetermined or at least highly managed.

    btw... BJ Penn is awesome

Your feet don't have to be set for it to be called charging.
It's not just this one call, it's that there's a systemic officiating bias towards "superstar" players, in particular those who play in a large market city and are marketable. And it absolutely destroys the game.

I thought it was a blown call till I saw that video. That is a block to the letter of the law. Look at where and how the finally make contact, Kobe's right hip to Bogut's right hip...thats a far cry from squared up

    God bless that adulterer :devilwink:

No harm done bro and I dont take offense. I just dont like one sentence responses that completely undermine my intelligence. I'm on your wave length here buddy. In the court of public opinion so be it. I thought OJ Simpson was guilty based on the evidence. But thats another story all together right? haha... God will judge him when his day comes.

I dont judge a man's ability on the basketball court based on his personal life either. On the court is is my favorite player playing for my absolute favorite team. Off of it? Well, I dont know him per say. He could be a total jerk?? He probably wouldn't even acknowledge I was there if I waved. LOL. My fanboy mentality goes as far as his skills as a basketball player. Everything else is well, none of my concern. Say he was convicted, my first reaction would be, "Oh sh*t, who the heck are we gonna find as a replacement?" not, "Oh please no, what would life be without Kobe Bryant on my team." I'd say he deserved it if found guilty.

There are many who earn SUPERSTARDOM. Being in LA definitely helped, but look at Lebron. Cleavland is not exactly a desirable market, but LBJ definitely gets a ton of calls his way. Most do not go into a league and gets them their rookie year. Kobe didn't play often enough to really get the SUPERSTAR calls when Jones and Van Exel were still on the rosters. I dont recall many superstar calls his rookie season, nor to I recall him having many starts and much playing time. Certainly not the type of calls he gets now.

What I do remember however, were all those MYSTERIOUS AIRBALLS he made his rookie year against UTAH... WTF? Jazz win. Lakers get sent packin.... LOL At that time I said to myself.. "WHY THE HELL DID WE TRADE HIM FOR VLADE DIVAC". lmao...

Being an islander, Im biased. BJ is the BEST MMA fighter pound for pound.... ;)

after watching that footage about a good 5-6 times, it wasn't a definite charge. It could of gone either way.

This is nearly always the case in a game where people say a single call "cost" the losing team a win.

Any team that puts itself in a position where a single call can swing the game one way or the other hasn't taken care of business. There were probably dozens of plays in regulation where a shot was missed or a bad pass made. You could argue those plays cost the losing team.

Unless it happened again and again all game long the Bucks have nothing to complain about.

The 2006 Dallas Mavericks on the other hand have something they can really complain about.

She dropped the criminal case because she was going to lose the criminal trial and if she lost that she would have been fighting a losing cause to win a civil lawsuit against Kobe to collect any damages.

It disgusts me Kobe cheated on his wife, but I never believed he raped the girl.

As for the play it should have been a non-call. I don't know why refs feel obligated to make a call one way or the other whenever there's any contact. Let the players decide the outcome not the whistle.
