Or trade them both for someone who can actually play solid defense against PG's.

We have no player who is even adequate at that.

Sure, if that player also is a good play-maker on offense. I have no problems with acquiring a point guard who's good at both offense and defense. Blake and Miller for Rajon Rondo? ;)

When Miller was first started being discussed to come here, we all pretty much knew that Miller thrives in a running situation. Portland is not a running situation. That is just the facts. I know a lot of folks hate it, but I think Portlands identitity is formed, and the identity is that (in the words of Nate) they scrap and make it ugly, often the games are close, and the most determinant factor of whether Portland is going to win, is how hard the team is playing.

Look at the games of late. Every half we have out rebounded our opponents we have won. Every half we haven't, we have lost. In both of the last 2 games we have been down by double digits in rebounding at the half. In the second half by the end of game we were ahead in rebounding and winning the game. This is not a coincidence folks. The team is playing ok defense (good enough IMO) the key is getting that rebound and keeping the other team from getting those second opportunities.

Right now, IMO Portland will get more fast break points from having agressive players on the floor who can finish (Bayless) than by playing Miller.

I don't dislike Miller, I just think he is a bad fit here.

To me, the fact that Miller has been quite good everywhere else he's been, but not here, says more about our system than it does about Andre.

He sucked in Philly until they fired Cheeks and put in a running system. Then he thrived.

This board was 90% Miller love Blake hate . . . until Miller started.

    Funny how that works.

I just don't see an issue. We've won the last two games, for one, with him starting, and we've gotten off to good starts. Did every player look the best they've ever looked? No. Bayless has looked great the last two games, keeping Miller on the bench. It's a great option to have. If he struggles against Orlando, I am sure we will see Miller closing out the game.

Maybe he really was brought in as a trading piece then?
I mean, looking at the type of player that is most common to this roster (length, athletic), inclusive of Miller, isn't it absurd to be playing at or near the slowest pace in the league?

Perhaps there's more of a conflict of styles between Nate and KP than has been revealed?

Not to pick nits, but his first season under Cheeks was just fine. It was year 2 when things went sideways.

Then again, Cheeks' first season with the Blazers also looked OK. Maybe his being such a nice guy temporarily trumps his inability to coach? :dunno:

Miller has 1 game of over 37 min. Blake? 8. Including one (yesterday) where he was "demoted" from the starting lineup.

You might have a case of "familiarity breeds contempt", but I'd surmise that it's really more "familiarity with sub-mediocrity breeds contempt when better options are languishing on the bench".

The blond chick comes out of me as I don't quite get your statement.

I was commenting on how the board has changed to Miller hate when he starts (according to the OP). I thought it was funny because I thought this board was all Miller love before he started.

So your statement is that because Blazer fans are familiar with sub-mediocrity they have contempt for Miller because he is languishing on the bench?

Miller's a passive-aggressive jerk. He can't be traded soon enough for me.

Miller's a super quiet, reclusive professional basketball player, any other conclusions are projecting. But really, if he was fitting in on the court he could drive through mud puddles to douse people on the sidewalk, kick stray cats, and park in handicapped spots and I wouldn't give two shits. This absurd notion that these guys have to be politicians and kiss babies and sing kum-bay-yah to be successful hoops players in Portland by some fans baffles me.

I like Miller for the most part. I'd keep him over Blake. But I would prefer if Miller had a better 3 ball.
