I would agree with Deception and say that I would take Lopez over Bynum. Brook is going to be a stud and an All-Star regular. Tough sell for NJ though, can't really convince a lot of stars that you're about to turn it around when you pull a season like they've been having. New York seems like another likely destination. Good coach, good city, lots of capspace to sign another star.

and the answer is still no, they come nowhere near 5 championships. the nets have a chance to make a big turnaround from being a bottom 3 team in the league to being a 50+ win team if this offseason turns out well, but any talk of several championships is just incredibly stupid and really premature.

so are mo williams and big z better than devin harris and brook lopez? the answer is no. if lebron went to new jersey which is a likely scenario with his ties to jay z- the nets could have the best record in the 2010-2011 season if that happened. see bron took his cast of misfits (i.e. delonte who was banished for his instability and mo williams who split pg duties in Milwaukee before coming to cleveland) to the best record in the league last year. in the nba- u're always one player away from being really good. and to not understand that basic truth is ignorant. to that end, a core of bosh, mayo, devin harris and brook lopez would win 5 nba championships, maybe not next year but in the following years.

plus, the nba is watered down with 30 teams and a cap so to have 4 all star caliber players would almost guarantee u success.

if lebron goes anywhere they're going to be a really good team. if lebron and bosh go anywhere together, yes they'll be a title contender every season.

it's funny that you call bosh, mayo, harris, and lopez a team of 4 allstars. that is a team of one allstar.

Lopez is definitely a future all star, may even get in this year considering the weak centers in the east.

    Exactly.

Wade + Bosh are two near top 50 all-time talents. Harris, Lopez, Mayo, and anyone else mentioned are not.

LeBron hasn't won any championships with Z and Williams, and the addition of a very old and shadow of his former self Shaq (who was a near top 50 all-time talent) is their only real hope of contending.

i used my words carefully- i referred to them as all star caliber players. as ilmago stated- brook lopez is already an all star to many in the east because he's the second best centre in the east. many considered devin harris an all star last year but he didnt make the team. oj mayo may never be an all star but he's already a really good player in his second year. and bosh is obviously a perennial all star and arguably the best four man in the game right now.

phoenix was dismissed as bottom feeders a few years ago and then BC signed nash and they became instant contenders and a horry dirty play away from winning it all. and ill also like to point to exibit b# the lakers were rountinely getting knocked out in the first round after shaq was traded away but the lakers acquired gasol and then went on to the finals that year, then winning the championship the following year. boys and girls- its the nba where only 8 guys make the rotation and one player can easily change the fortunes of a team.

and crane dismissed my fantasy nets team without really considering nba history and how nba teams are built. lets play a fun exercise to demonstrate my point. lets compare the championship spurs with my fantasy nets team

    tony parker = devin harris
    ginobli> mayo
    duncan = bosh
    rasho/nazr mohammed< brook lopez

And Kirk Hinrich > Steve Nash.

    Fantasy indeed.

what does captain kirk have to do with comparing the spurs to the nets? as ive told u previously- kirk can be traded if u were to add a lottery pick plus taj gibson in a deal. look at the numbers- because the lottery pick and gibson would still be on their rookie contracts- the team acquiring kirk, the lottery pick and gibson would be acquiring three rotation players for something in the neighbourhood of 18 million a season and thats a bargain.

see, if those things were true, them you may have a point. but they aren't. parker has been far better than harris ever has been and duncan has been loads better than bosh as well. same with a healthy manu over mayo. so yeah, maybe you need a different example.

duncan is a better defensive player but offensively bosh hit's free throws at a 80% clip and scores a lot easier and more efficiently than duncan. also, at this point- bosh is the second in the league in rebounding to noah. so its even. and i acknowledge that ginobli is better than mayo. as for parker being far superior to devin- check the numbers over the last two years then talk to me.

duncan right this second, maybe bosh can be in the conversation. but no, bosh doesn't score more efficiently or rebound the ball better than duncan.

do the spurs look like a championship team to you right now? if you're saying that with the right moves the nets can jump out to a 13-10 start next season, you aren't going to see any arguments from me.

and parker is far superior to harris. you might want to recheck the numbers. harris can put up similar per game averages but they come at much lower percentages and come while playing more minutes. i mean it isn't difficult to make the argument that parker was the 2nd best pg in the league last year and it's possible to argue that harris wasn't in the top 10.

first off, spurs always start slow and they are integrating a lot of players. to think duncan is a better offensive player than bosh is laughable. every watched the spurs in the last 2 minutes? they rarely go to duncan because he cant hit his free throws. bosh hits three's, even game winning three's. he has a better mid range game; better handles; gets to the f/t line more and actually hits; duncan is probably a slightly a better post up player but thats his only advantage offensively.

as for devin harris- dont look at this year stats because he's coming off injuries and the nets in general have been terrible. although, last year he was the best player on a team which also had vince carter and finished just out of the playoffs. also, defensively he's far better than tony p. in fact, devin might be one of best defensive pg's in the league. and tony p was not the second best pg in the league last year- chris paul, deron williams, billups, steve nash were all ahead of him.

i said that bosh doesn't score more efficiently and that bosh doesn't rebound better. i did not say that duncan is better offensively. on offense, they are pretty close to being equal. defensively, duncan is definitely better. and duncan is the better rebounder as well.

i mean it isn't difficult to make the argument that parker was the 2nd best pg in the league last year and it's possible to argue that harris wasn't in the top 10.

what about that implies that i was talking about this year's stats?

and yes, the argument can absolutely be made that parker was the 2nd best pg last year. guess who was 2nd in PER at the pg position last year(hint - he's married to eva longoria). that doesn't mean that i personally believe he's the 2nd best pg in the league. but he's still significantly better than harris. parker is the 4th best pg in the league at worst.

bosh is better than duncan offensively for the reasons specified: shoots better from the line; gets to the line more often; better handles; better jumper and shoots three's. as for bosh's rebounding- he's second in the league in rebounding, the numbers speak for themselves.

devin harris and tony p? who's the better defensive player? devin. who's bigger? devin. and both are just as quick and both are terrible shooters from beyond the three point arc. the truth is that both arent great but good enough to be better than most and play pg for a championship quality team.
